Can we disable necroposting on this forum?

But volunteers wouldn't have to do any more work. The idea was that posts would automatically be locked to new replies after a year or two of inactivity. (There are algorithms for that kind of thing.) No one was suggesting that the moderators search and manually lock every post that is inactive. Yes, that would be ridiculous.
