The SL codes thread is exactly why I'd support leaving it as is. Frankly, I don't want to see 50 different threads about new codes and I like that they are all in one place. Since I don't use SL anymore, I ignore the thread unless I'm specifically looking for a code, in which case I just go to the last page. But, I've also been here awhile so I tend to remember which threads are which.
I also agree that since information changes so frequently, it makes sense to allow people to post updates on older threads when that information is no longer accurate, in the event members are searching for that subject.
People hijacking an existing thread for help instead of making their own post is a separate issue, IMO.
