TESU LIB-495 Liberal Arts Capstone Course
#99
I started reading the 2017 version of the Capstone guide, and it emphasizes on ‘first hand research’ again and again. Prof. Haydel keeps saying that a capstone is a ‘research study, and not a research paper’, in which you can just bring in data gathered by someone else. She highlights how a research study always involves subjects, and gives examples of how students in the past conducted surveys. I wish to ask others on this forum reg this- how do I go about this? And how mandatory is it? Will my capstone project be rejected if I just cited data analysis and results from past studies? If so, I need to get to work right away, and start conducting surveys.

The other question I have is reg the sources: the capstone guide emphasizes that the sources must be peer-reviewed journals and other primary sources. I understand citing from Wikipedia is not considered authentic, but is it not allowed to even cite from good online magazines like Harvard Business Review or Psychology Today? Somehow, the wording of the Capstone guide feels very ‘absolute’ and rigid.
