Many times colleges will not allow you to test out of a certain class but WILL accept the transferring of those credits from another school, especially a 4 year program. Credit banking may help avoid that situation, as you are transferring in credits transcripted by TE. Schools that have program agreements with Thomas Edison may be the most likely to make exceptions to their regular policies when considering the acceptance of transcripted credits. Check with the school as nothing is a given. The best thing to do is to simply call your school and ask if they will accept add'l testing credits if they are transcripted with TE - some will, some won't. "
So maybe it is kind of normal??
The link you're sharing is a family's personal CLEP prep page, I'm not downing them, I'm just saying that it's not an official document by your college or CLEP....so really, they can say anything.
It's not normal.
It's fine for people to say "well, be sure to check..... some will, some won't" but that's a lazy answer. The truth is that colleges are exceptionally predictable in how they handle things. Since they are so predictable, it's easy for us on this page to help people navigate the process easily. In other words, if it was simply a case of "some will, some won't" then no one would risk it and we'd all just stand here flipping coins.
I've already contributed as much as I can, I'm not trying to persuade you into doing what *I would do, rather I'm telling you that there are things you should consider before going forward. The choice is yours of course.
