My daughter took her first dual enrollment course this past fall and she has become very involved with student government (SGA). So involved in fact that she is on the campus several times a week and she just launched a campaign for SGA President.
So far the kid is out marketing her competition with flyers 4:1 or so, and she was paid a high complement by her SGA advisor. The kid actually sent out emails to all the professor's asking if she could come speak to their classes. Advisor found out about it and was sort of dumbstruck, she said "I never heard of anyone doing that, your amazing" (or something to that effect, I wasn't there of course).
The campaign window is very short, we should know Tuesday night or Wednesday morning the full result, I'll let you guys know.
A cool benefit of being an elected officer is 16 hours per semester of tuition free college. Not that it makes a huge deal to us financially as her dusk enrollment is free anyway... But she seems really excited at the idea that she would be earning her way on her own.... Proud Dad no matter how it turns out!
That's awesome! I love that she's into the idea of paying her own way!
Wait...but what about "socialization"? My favorite question!
