My Good News
#1
I just wanted to share my good news. I got offered a job today.

I have only been working as a substitute teacher since September, but today I got offered a job for the rest of the school year (till the middle of June here in NJ). This is great for me since my "real Job" as a chemist has kind of dried up. I used to work 1-2 days a week as a consultant, but my bosses daughter kind of took over my job as I taught her to replace me.

Anyway this new position is being started it will be 1/2 days 5 days a week, this works out great. Incase my other boss ever does want me again(the pay is about 3X's what I make subbing) I will be finished at school by 12:20 so I can still do the lab work in the afternoon.

I could not have gotten this job without my 60 credits which I just finished in June. Thanks to IC and the great encouragement of everyone on this board. It is a great feeling to know that this old dog could learn a new trick and be good at it.

I say again THANK YOU IC and all the wonderful helpful people on this board.
Linda

Congrats! It is satisfying to see you placed where you have the ability to do both if you want to. Hope all goes well for you.

I appreciate all the encouragement. I am really looking forward to this. Of course there are some nerves, but I love teaching so I know I will overcome the problems as they appear.

I just may end up rethinking my whole degree plan and forge ahead with a special education degree instead.

Good for you Linda, and good luck in your new job. My girlfriend got her teaching cert under the alternative method in her state and she is now getting her Masters in special ed just 2 years later.
