I don't trust anyone who says it's easy, because they took the old test. The new test for 2010 could be more difficult. So far, I was having a hard time interpreting the literature I was reading. You def. SHOULD study just in case. Good luck. As far as material goes, you seem to have a good grasp. Let me know how you do!

And it could be easier -- you never know. College Board isn't notorious for embracing change, so I doubt the test will be radically reformed in the next few months.

The principle remains the same: study well and be prepared for anything! Big Grin

Hi!

This is my next exam (January). Where did you see that the test will be changing next year? What changes are expected?

I checked this page at College Board, but did not see anything mentioned about changes:

CLEP: Analyzing and Interpreting Literature

Thanks for the help!

I compared the information on the College Board website to the list in the Official CLEP Study Guide which I bought in 2008, and they are the same. I believe that each person takes a different exam, but I do not believe there will be a major change in the exam next year unless they say so, which they have not. If you have additional information about this, I would like to know.

Regarding whether this is an "easy" exam, that is a very individual experience. I would much rather be doing math problems than taking this exam. If you are already good at reading comprehension exams, then there is very little to study (except literary terms) and that makes it easy, but the exam may still be difficult to take. If you need practice with reading comprehension, then there is more to study, and books like REA with tips and practice tests can help. There are Petersons practice tests, too.

My best wishes to you on this exam! I'll let you know how mine goes.

I'm taking the Analyzing & Interpreting Literature test tomorrow. I did the practice test in the Official Guide, some practice questions in AP English Book, some in SAT book, but I'm still so afraid 'cuz English is not my native language. I've trying to read poems and study literary terms, but still it's really hard for me to comprehend. I'm really afraid now.

My CLEP English Composition I score is just slight above the required passing score.

Try to squeeze in a Peterson's practice test before the actual exam tomorrow -- to help get you into the right mode of thinking!

I begin study today, and will plan to take the test in 2-4 weeks, depending on my progress. Any advise on study material will be appreciated. I have the 2010 CLEP guide, and plan on Peterson's Practice tests. Any other material you could recommend?

Thanks...
This test was easy if you have an ability to read what someone has written (often in old writing style) and interpret their meaning.

I took this test with absolutely zero, not one minute of studying and I got a 67.

It was also the last of 3 tests that I took in one day.

What is a good score for Peterson's practice test for the CLEP Analyzing and Interpreting Literature? I mean what would be a good score to say OK, I am now ready to take the CLEP.

Personally, I like to score close to 70% at least before attempting the actual exam. I give exception to courses like Algebra, where a pass is more than enough. Big Grin Even then, I still scored around 65% before sitting for the test. Or was it a scaled score of 65? I forget...
