Thank you for your review.
This will be my first CLEP exam as well, and I'll be taking in on March 31.
The questions in the REA book scared me a little. Cracking the CLEP seems to be the better study guide. It actually gives explanations as to why a certain answer is correct or incorrect. Some of the Peterson's questions make absolutely no sense whatsoever.

Some of the Peterson's questions refer to some obscure facets of grammar. Don't get too concerned about them, but I would recommend looking up the concept anyway. After all, the point of the test is to learn, right?

Deffinately.
Knocking out the tests that are considered the "easier" ones to get rid of the testing jitters as much as I can before moving on to some of the harder subjects I need - i.e. Accounting & Business Law lol

I'm helping a student prep for this exam and spelling is not her strong suit. I thought content was what this was graded on and spelling, not so much. Anyone have insight?

While it's true that this is not a spelling test, remember that the essay is graded by a human being with whom you do not want to leave a bad impression. Terrible spelling may do exactly that! If the grader has a generally bad impression due to excessive bad spelling, I can see where that may adversely impact the grade.

This was by far the BEST feedback regarding English Composition. Thank you for sharing with us. This helps me so much, even though I'm taking w/o essay.
