If I pass all my tests (several Dantes still waiting for results) I have about 66 credits right now. I am not enrolled in Excelsior yet but will be very soon. For today I have a French exam scheduled for 12 credits. I want to see if there is a maximum limit of credits they allow me to enroll with (I remember reading that somewhere) or can I still transfer with 78 credits? If there is a limit, I will have to wait taking my French test until after I have enrolled.
Thanks!
Christa

Christa,
Good luck on that French exam! I've never heard of a limit on how many credits you can transfer into ECE upon enrollment.

Hi Christa,
The others are right. As long as you are certain that none of your credits overlap with each other, and that you have fulfilled ALL the requirements for you particular degree, you could technically earn all the necessary credits before you ever enroll at Excelsior.
However, there is a risk that you could end up paying for exams or courses that Excelsior will later 'throw out'. In this case, it would have been safer to enroll a little earlier so that your Excelsior advisor could warn you of any potential problems.
Once you pay the enrollment fee, you have one full year to complete your degree before you must pay any additional 'renewal' fees. Therefore, it would seem to be to your advantage to enroll at the point that you know you are within one year of fulfilling all the requirements for your degree.
In my own case, I feel pretty confident that I know which credits overlap, and which credits will fulfill the various requirements. However, I still plan on enrolling at Excelsior prior to earning all 120 credits. Just so that I don't waste money on unnecessary exams, and to ensure that I still have time to correct my plans in the final stages, if necessary.
Hope that helps,
Snazzlefrag
My name is Rob

Thanks to all of you for the quick response. That will give me a little bit more time to get the funds together
BTW. just came back from CLEPing French. Scored a 73 for 12 credits hilarious YES!
That's now 51 credits during 4 1/2 months! And what amazes me most: I go to college to do the test and see all these students walking towards their classes looking exausted. You tell them about CLEP but they say that's just way to hard to do
I have two small children, an extremely busy full time job, and look to complete my degree in October this year, that's 9-10 months!!!
Thanks to all of you for making it happen!

I paid the enrollment fee in six monthly installments. The fee was just $25 for this option, and my monthly payments were $170.15. It's not what I'd consider low (it's 2x my monthly car insurance payment), but it's better than paying $1000 in one shot.

Just out of curiosity, how fluent are you in French? I took it for 5 years in school, and even was able to understand a lot and speak a little (I was embarrassed to speak more) on a recent trip to Paris. But, I was intimidated by this exam and never took it.

That's awsome.. language tests can be a fast way to a lot of credits.
Just to jump in.. there's no limit on what you can transfer in, but plan on taking the 1 Credit Info Literacy course even if you transfer in 120 credits.
