Need guidance for BOG AAS with transfer to UMPI to carry on to MOAL
#11
Best of luck - remember one bite at a time. My first suggestion would be to put the requirements into a spreadsheet to make it easier to compare and contrast your options against the credits that you have and plan to do. That helps get things more manageable.

Also remember, even if you don't do the BAS and choose to do a BLS with a couple of minor for example, you can still do the classes that shorten the MAOL from 12 to 9 classes.

With your current credits, it's best to stick with your initial plan of doing the BAS with the minors of your choice, in addition to taking the 4 classes that can go towards the MAOL. I've illustrated the steps, as I mentioned, you can add the Management minor if you wanted to have a triple, you just need to take 2 more classes. In fact, if you look at my post, here, it only lists 8 classes for UMPI: https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-...#pid420108

Main reason I still suggest the BAS over anything else at the moment is, you're creating a balanced mix/match of your current credits, using those certificates, credits towards the degree, and experience. You're not 'green' or starting from scratch, nor have no experience, you can get any 'check the box' degree and still be able to go into the MAOL, last but not least, having a BABA M&L is somewhat redundant when you get to the MAOL level. BAS allows you to have minor in PM, MIS, and prepare for the MAOL.

Having said that, it really depends on the student and their needs or wants... If you were 20, have no experience, just starting college, I would highly recommend the BABA with a concentration of your choice, it doesn't have to be Management & Leadership, it could be Project Management & Info Systems, or something that you're really interested in. When you're in your late 30's or early 40's, you've got an established skill set, any Masters will be looked at before they look at a check the box Bachelors (unless it's in something very unique).

BJ Thank You

What classes would you suggest Subbing out for the 3/4 MAOL classes from you Excel Sheet pathway?

Basically, in your scenario, I recommend going for UMPI BAS MIS & PM Minor (or even add the Management minor), and also the 4 classes towards the MAOL, here's a spreadsheet from two years ago, there is just one minor difference, the "business communication" course: https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-...#pid365771

Remaining Gen Ed Example:
Sophia.org Critical Thinking - 2D ENG 211 Creative Writing or ART 108 Graphic Design
Sophia.org Art History I/II - 2E ENG 151 Intro to Lit or HUM 184 Disciplinary Relationships
Sophia.org Ancient Greek/Intro to Ethics - 4C PHI 152 Introduction to Ethics or SWK 202 Ethics in the Helping Profession
Sophia.org French I - 5C FRE 101 Elementary French I or SPA 101 Elementary Spanish

MIS Minor Requirements:
Sophia.org Project Management - BUS 141 Introduction to Project Management w/Microsoft Projects
UMPI BUS 200 Intermediate Business Computing
Study.com BUS 303 Management Information Systems - BUS 244 Management Information Systems
Google Data Analytics Certificate - BUS 245: Programming for Managers
UMPI BUS 345: Database Management Systems
**UMPI BUS 440 Business Analytics

PM Minor Requirements:
Study.com BUS 304 - Leading Organizational Change - BUS 240 Change Management
UMPI BUS 343 Project Risk & Cost Management
Google Project Management Certificate - BUS 400: Project Management Applications
UMPI BUS 401: Advanced Project Management Applications II
Study.com BUS 314 Advanced Operations Management - BUS 415 Operations Management
**UMPI BUS 469 Strategic Professional Communication

Remaining Electives Requirements:
**UMPI BUS 335 Organizational Behavior
**UMPI BUS 353 Legal & Ethical Issues in Business
**Classes exempt/transferrable into MAOL later

BJ , Also for some of these I already have every Google Professional Cert from Coursera which would cover some in your remaining/requirement list. Are you suggesting taking all of those on top of the excel spreadsheet you shared?

I wonder how I got into degree hacking, it's like a personalized game to see how much you can get in ROI/Value by getting as many check the box options as possible on route to getting the degree, such as getting more minors, transfers into the MAOL, saving cash, balance of certs, degree, experience, etc... To top it off, you can add the UMPI AALS on route to the BAS, add the program and 'forget it' as your residency requirements will complete or fulfill the degree.

1) You're going to be taking all 4 of the classes that can go towards the MAOL, even though 3 can be used, the reason is you need to take 10 classes for residency requirements, and that's your final class to get all 10 required.

2) As I mentioned in the quoted post, there is only one difference in the excel spreadsheet I made two years ago, the "business communication" course.  Follow the MIS & PM Minor Requirements in the quote, plus the Remaining Electives, you'll be good to go.

I also mentioned... If you look at the info all added up, there are only 8 classes to take at UMPI. If you're going to add a Management minor, then you need two more classes at UMPI, and that's what I mentioned to take at UMPI (not transfer from Study.com).

It's best for me to illustrate it as follows, it'll be easier to 'see' the whole picture with colors indicating what you have and what is required.  See below for details... Red are the ones you have, ** All go towards the MAOL, # Adds up to 10 total

Management Minor Requirements:
#Take these two at UMPI instead of Study.com to round out the 10 required classes!
Study.com Business 209: Mentoring & Leadership Development in the Workplace - BUS 260: Leadership
Study.com Business 306: Strategic Human Resources Management - BUS 321: Human Resource Management

MIS Minor Requirements:
Sophia.org Project Management - BUS 141 Introduction to Project Management w/Microsoft Projects
UMPI BUS 200 Intermediate Business Computing
Study.com BUS 303 Management Information Systems - BUS 244 Management Information Systems
Google Data Analytics Certificate - BUS 245: Programming for Managers
UMPI BUS 345: Database Management Systems

Thank You I appreciate it.

So once I get my Pierpont AAS approved transfer credits in and graduation/diploma And get that transferred over to UMPI I really only have 4 classes plus maybe some extra credits for fun to complete and transfer I can start the BAS. I didn't realize I was that close to the BAS already.

You're Welcome! No worries... Except, my copy/paste was only for the major requirements, not the general education portion which I purposely left out. I recall this is what I had entered last time for your general education, but it was more to illustrate as an example. You should only need something similar to this copy/paste I did previously for general education requirements.

BJ Good Afternoon its me again!
Who would I contact regarding transfer credits. Pierpont only accepted 3 of my courses from my college transcripts some older than others but not my English, music, computer stuff from a larger state college that was transferred into my cc transcripts.  I went and ordered a transcript from my State college to send to Pierpont in hopes I can get it fixed. Due to this I am not meeting requirements for graduations.

Also Pierpont state I am not meeting the 15 hours of residence requirement.....what is the work around for this?

Thanks!

You're not providing any screenshots to or more details, but I know exactly what's going on, you're most likely looking at the degree planner. There is an issue with the online degree planner and it doesn't do things properly, you just need to review your transferred classes and make sure it corresponds to the Pierpont WIKI.

1) For the BOG AAS, there are no residency requirements, it's 100% transfer credit and you're done.
2) If you're missing any general education, transfer them in using Sophia.org classes
3) For all electives, you can use the Sophia.org classes as well, and/or take the Coursera, TEEX cheapies/freebies.

Note: If you really need to contact someone at Pierpont, review the sticky thread: https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-...t-Contacts

ok thank you.

Do you know if Sophia Vis Comm and Environmental science can count towards GEC? if so that would be amazing 2 less classes to do. I have I believe 105 accepted credits at pierpont so far.
