I have fond memories of visiting Hong Kong and Kowloon when I was a young Sailor. It was still a British Crown Colony at the time. Much has changed.

Hope your wife is having a nice trip in HK. Well I have got some more choices after doing some research.
I have taken a look at some Malaysian Universities:
-City University of Malaysia
-INTI University (however not sure if I am qualified, still asking)

Azteca university is also offered by an agent. However probably not a good choice.

The tution fee should be pretty affordable for City university Malaysia and INTI, however the workload would be heavier (80 credit hours).
INTI does get a pretty well QS rank.
However for cirruculum I would go for GGU. Love the finance concentration.

Former student of Apollos DBA here. Enrolled in 2018 or 2019, completed 15 credit hours or so there. Couldn’t continue due to health issues and social circumstances (hence, my nickname). But I would say the school was really great and I wish I could go back to it someday. I really learned a lot from my time there.

IIRC, classes are delivered through the Moodle platform with a plagiarism checking plugin enabled for instructors only. Each week you have 3-4 assignments, which involves reading textbook/papers, and answering questions related to them, typically in an essay format with 300-500 words. All materials are provided for free (they have their own library and database).

Sometimes you are asked to write a small case study based on the ideas you just learned, like developing a marketing strategy for your newly launched product. You also need to engage with your fellow students. Instructors then grade your answers and your comments on other students’ “threads”, which they do in a timely manner. I would say all instructors are kind and helpful, specially the owner of the school who teaches a couple of classes at the DBA program.

Classes end with exams, some are open-book while others are proctored (through a special software you have to install). Assignments are self-paced. While the classes are designed to be finished in 8 weeks, you have up to 16 weeks to complete them.

Hope this helps.

Hope you are recovering well. So it seems the classes and teaching in Apollos are ok. Great piece of information as I cannot search any lecture video about this university on the internet.

I am currently enrolled at GGU via upgrad.

If you are interested in the course and have specific questions I'd be happy to help.

Hi Aimz can you please give some info for the quality of education and payment terms? It has payment plan on monthly basis?

The classes how are they? are they conducted from GGU staff or upgrad?

Thanks in advance!

Alex.

The quality of education is good but its quite fast paced, especially as I've not been in a university environment for a while.

The course is broken down into three sections:

Doctoral Research Methods - here we learn correct writing and research styles
Specialisation - take classes on specialist topics like finance, ethics, digital accounting
Dissertation - final stage which is the delivery of a dissertation.

Im currently on section 1. The lectures are pre-recorded mainly but there is a live class/tutorial each weekend. The recorded lecturers all (so far) are from different institutions and the live lectures are also from an academic based in Asia.

Interaction at this stage with GGU is limited. Academic support and escalation of issues is handled by upgrad staff and they do a great job. I have recieved a GGU ID, Email and access to their online databases.

Their is good support from the academic cohort too. Most are based in South Asia and East Asia with a few from UK, Canada and Aus.

Regarding the payment I do believe that there is an option to pay in installments if you use a credit card. I paid in full so don't know too much about this. I recieved a scholarship of 70%. You have to make an application and write a letter to support it. Most applicants do recieve a scholarship but the amount can vary slightly.

I supect that the way upgrad is able to keep the course fees down is by outsourcing the marking and administration to non GGU staff. I think there will be more  GGU involvement in stage 3 of the course.

Overall obtaining a doctorate fromi well regarded brick and mortar school, fully remotely and at a decent price point was a great deal for me.

Thanks for sharing your experience! I'm also very interested in GGU DBA. Do you know if there will be a qualification exam (like all US Unis) and a thesis defense? Thank you!
