Greetings,
I wanted to share a few interactions and conversations I've had recently with Texila American University, BAC, and both of the Medical School accreditors for TAU.
1. TAU has just received British Accreditation Council [BAC accreditation] effective 31 October 2024, for 4 years.
2. When I spoke with all three accreditors:
- British Accreditation Council (BAC)
- Caribbean Accreditation Authority for Education in Medicine and other Health Professions (CAAM-HP)
- Accreditation Commission on Colleges and Universities (ACCM)
...they each assured me that TAU is indeed accredited and now has ALL their academic programs covered: ALL Bachelors, Masters & Doctorates.
3. I cannot speak for which Masters they would accept into their [example: PhD in Public Health] programs, but they did ask me to send them all 4 of my ENEB degrees. However, because I already hold the DHA from VUL, I was accepted.
4. Here are the terms of my acceptance into their January 2025 intake for the PhD in Public Health.
- Instead of taking 3.5 years to completion, I will have a 2-year program [January 2025 - January 2027] with the possibility to finish 3-6 months earlier, depending on the speed at which I complete my Dissertation.
- The entire tuition is $7,600 [for the whole program]. Due to my DHA transfer credits, Veterans Scholarship [$1000], and Referral Credit [$550], my tuition will be discounted down to $6,050.00. They have a 2-year payment plan that allows you to pay over time.
5. I spoke directly to ECE [Educational Credential Evaluators] who confirmed that BAC-accreditation is a recognized accreditor and while it may not be needed [unless I am pursuing a US Teaching position], most employers will not need a FCE Report for TAU. BAC is a member of the recognized list of: International Network for Quality Assurance Agencies in Higher Education. [https://www.inqaahe.org/member/british-accreditation-council-for-independent-further-and-higher-education/]
6. Here is TAU's BAC accreditation confirmation: https://www.the-bac.org/directory/21291/...ty-guyana/
Final thought: I am doing the PhD in Public Health as an "upgrade" to my DHA, as a research degree holds more weight in academia, research, peer-review publishing, and my desire to work with the UN, WHO, or a well-regarded NGO in the field of Global Health, International Relations or Human Rights Practice. [I'm currently in the MA in Human Rights Practice at The University of Arizona]
TAU has a very good and well respected Alumni of numerous individuals working in Public Health across the globe. I look forward to a rigorous classroom experience and leveraging my academic experiences to my full potential.

Three posts were deleted because they entirely concerned making the font larger in the original post, which I edited the original post to accomplish. Two posts were deleted because they were personal arguing between members. Discussion of Texila American University and its pros and cons is fine.

Let me thank you personally for monitoring the post, fixing my post with a larger font, and keeping the peace. The snide comment made against me was absolutely uncalled for and I wasn't going to let someone accuse me without responding. Respect is earned. While many on this forum may not agree with the opinion of others, we are to be civil and respectful of the information we ALL share, the decision we ALL make in furthering our education, and the tools we utilize to accomplish it.
There are far too many avenues, shortcuts and resources available on both of our respective forums for students to choose from. If one chooses to take the traditional path, then fine, you have that right. Other may not have the funds or resource available and ENEB, CLEP, DANTES, Test taking, or international schools are always other options to choose from...to achieve the same goal - completion of your academic journey in whatever path you decide.
Years ago, so many people disparaged and outright dogged ENEB. Now they have over 100,000+ students realizing that through numerous avenues, one can transfer credits, use their Masters for employment and Licensing, with a FCE Report, gain acceptance into a Masters or Doctoral program, and a host of other opportunities globally.
The reality is this: Let people make their own judgment call. Offer the information and try to help others along the way. Your way is not the ONLY way. And instead of tearing others down, how about we lift up our fellow cohorts [in educational pursuits] and encourage them. Education is global now. Let's help each other make it to our personal and academic goals.

Wow! Awesome, I posted a thread about TAU before! I feel the VUL DHA is a good program already, the PhD program mentioned here at that price of $7K is an amazing deal! ASIC and/or BAC accreditation/recognition in the UK is a great addition to their international accreditation or recognition, but may not fully be recognized as equivalent to US (which shouldn't really matter for personal reasons for study). I was actually going to do something similar to this when I looked at them previously, they didn't get the BAC recognition back then...

Yea. I did my homework. Believe me, I did the "tea leaves" of making sure I asked all the questions and reached out to TAU, BAC, and the other accreditors. As mentioned in my post, now that BAC has accredited TAU, they are recognized globally. The same INQAAHE that has the (U)S CHEA & (UK) ENQA as members, also has BAC as a member accreditor. And BAC is a member of ENQA: https://www.enqa.eu/membership-database/...n-council/
While I do agree that the US has its own standards, I would be hard pressed to think a BAC accredited foreign school would not be accepted by the United States when many of their US schools are recognized in the same INQAAHE Database. IMHO, it would be a bit hypocritical to say BAC is questionable, but CHEA is legitimate. Just a thought.
Nevertheless, I am enrolling in January 2025 [for that price] and I'll keep the Degree Forum updated on my progress. Appreciate your feedback.
