Pierpont RA credit requirement
#1
Do TECEPs count as RA credit for the Pierpont AA?

TECEPs are RA, but they're not graded, why bother when you are just needing 1 RA credit? Pierpont requires at least a graded credit. You can take the $25 ASU course for 1 credit and take the rest from Sophia.org for 60 credits to hit the Pierpont BOG AAS with an emphasis of your choice.

Right; TECEPs don't count at Pierpont in the way that students need them to.

The $25 ASU class that counts is here: https://ea.asu.edu/courses/business-tech...s-cis-194/

The wiki says that Pierpont requires 12 RA credits.
Has this changed?

I knew it was one graded credit which is already taken care of.
My son focused on CLEP exams since they were free and covered topics he already learned in high school.
He doesn't yet have 12 RA credits.
He was going to take some TECEP exams to help fulfill TESU's RA credit requirement so we hoped he could use TECEPs for RA credit toward both degrees, if possible.

Right now, you can fill Pierpont's requirements solely with Sophia and the ASU course. See https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/Pi...pplication

That's right, you want to re-read the WIKI, the crossed out portion is still there as possible changes can occur... Technically, you do need 12 RA, however, for some reason or another, Pierpont staff will take the Alternative ACE credit as RA (most likely as they will take them as transfer credit, similar to a college class or challenge exam)

So if my son has 4 RA credits and the rest in CLEP and DSST exams, they will take that to fulfill the degree?
My son took 2 courses with Sophia and refuses to take any more through that provider.

Edited to add that nothing is crossed out on the wiki page.

That's so strange, I tried on another browser (Chrome & Edge) and also by clicking the link Rachel83AZ, I still get the info showing as crossed off... under pre-application. Oh well... Essentially, for now, you just need to finish off more CLEP exams instead of Sophia.org then. Get a minimum of 60 credits transferred over, as long as your gen eds are done, you can have anything that is ACE/CLEP for the electives...

Yes, 4 RA credits is sufficient. But I don't know about 4 RA + CLEP & DSST. We know Sophia works. In theory, CLEP and DSST should also work. But they might not.

Based off of my reading of Pierpont catalog, you are correct that it is 12 RA credits now to fulfill "residency requirements," but none of the RA credits have to be done at Pierpont.

Luna CC allows you to complete up to 6 credits for around $160 per 3-credit course ($45/credit+$25/course).
Then you can do Tel Learning for $200/3-credit course.
You could combine three 1-credit courses for a cheap combo: Clackamas CC library science course ($Free 1-credit course), ASU Business Technology Fundamentals course ($25 for 1-credit), and Tel Learning College Readiness course ($67 for 1-credit).

Why didn't your son like Sophia, if you don't mind me asking?
