That’s one I may apply to. And / or mcit.
If you’re going for a small unrank school applied stats or computer science may carry more weight with employers. Big names or top 200 data science prolly more standardized.

I believe Computer Science and Statistics are going to be programs that carry more weight even when compared to Data Science and Analytics. The fact is, a lot of the Data Science and Analytics curriculum is centered around Statistics. Graduate Statistics programs are heavy in programming and they are a long standing degree program.
That said, UPenn is an Ivy but Purdue is a well-known university especially in STEM areas.

if I were going to do a masters in either computer science or statistics or data science I would choose this
CUNY City University of New York School of Professional Studies
Master of Science in Data Science
course list on this page
https://sps.catalog.cuny.edu/programs/DATSC-MS
tuition
$5,545 per semester for fulltime students
$470 per credit for 12 credits or fewer per semester
not a big name school, and its not CS or statistics, but it is very inexpensive
and I'm positive a masters in data science would get me a good ROI

Statistical Science - Engineering Outreach - University of Idaho (uidaho.edu)
at first it sounded very inexpensive
https://www.uidaho.edu/current-students/...n-and-fees
Idaho Residents and Out Of State Students Registered for All Online Courses Only * - Per Semester Tuition and Fees
- Full Time (9-20 credits): $4,956
but then i saw this
*Distance Education courses offered via Engineering Outreach have an additional production fee of $263 per credit.

University of Nottingham's MSc in Statistical Science (Distance Learning) is £10,800 (roughly $12.5K).
University of Strathclyde's MSc in Applied Statistics (online) is £11,550 (roughly $13.4K) with optional concentrations in data science, finance, and health sciences.
University of Sheffield has an MSc in Statistics for £23,250 (roughly $27K) that requires being "in Sheffield for a few days between late May and early June each year for your exams."

I usually pay no attention to costs but this one threw the numbers out on the front page. $811 per credit for a 30 credit program. That's $24,330.00 But we know it never stops there. There's always some random fee to be paid.

But I'm not trying to find the cheapest. I'm just trying to show that it's not a rare or unusual degree. We saw the British degrees posted by carrythenothing. I'll bet there are even South African versions. They're bound to be cheaper.

I think Comp Sci and Stats are more "main stream" sciences and the Data Analytics or Data Science a sub set of them both as there are elements of each, it's like a sub field or specialty. Since Data is such a fad right now, it might not be a bad idea to focus on a nice niche, so something like a Comp Science degree with a concentration in Data Science. Even AI is hot right now, something along those two sub areas will be big...
