Pierpont BOG AAS thread

In my discussions with Pierpont, they say the 12 RA credits are a requirement.  I was thinking a cheap way around this would be TECEPs and at least one UExcel for GPA.

They might not know it right off the tops of their heads (as we are a tricky bunch here on the forum), but it might be something like 12 GRADED RD credits (meaning TECEP's wouldn't count).  I would check to see if TECEP's will work.  If not, then you might be stuck with UExcel's (and this isn't the least expensive way to get credits, but I guess you could do UL ones that will work on a BA/BS AOS.

One of the RA classes (3 credits) that they counted towards the 12 was not graded AND developmental (introductory algebra). That's why I'm pretty sure TECEPs will work.

RA is "regionally accredited" and that has to do with the US.  You could contact them and ask about replacing the RA with international, but they wouldn't be considered RA.  It would basically be a waiver for the requirement.

I'm guessing that they won't do it.  But it's worth a shot.

for the BOG at Pierpont does anyone know where you can see 'graduated' in the felix system?

Any advantage of obtaining the BOG AAS from Pierpont first and then transferring to the Big 3 vs. applying straight to one of the Big 3 with a bunch of misc 60 credits, or will the big 3 have to go through all credits one by one anyway?

No.  None of the Big 3 do a block transfer, so there's no point.

And WGU does do a block transfer, but only from an AA/AS, not from an AAS.

Please elaborate on this.  It was my understanding that if you have an AA/AS from any regionally accredited institution then the general requirements for a bachelor's degree are  fulfilled for the any of the Big 3.  My courses line up best with COSC but I don't want to take the Cornerstone course so I applied to Pierpont for my AA and also to COSC for my bachelors, does that work or will COSC start me from scratch?

None of the Big 3 take a block transfer.  They all evaluate your courses individually.

Also, COSC requires a Cornerstone, you can't get out of that (that I'm aware of).  But you don't "start from scratch" (not even sure what that means), you just transfer your courses and work on your BA.

I do know that TESU will have your Gen Ed requirements complete if you come in with a BA/BS, but not an AA.

Got it!  Thanks.  I need my AA for work so I'll move ahead with my plan.  Was hoping to skip the Cornerstone with a "block transfer" (new to me) but alas guess that's not an option.  Thank you for filling in the blanks!
