Straigherline Downgrade at TESU
#11
This is a prime example of why it is recommended to knock out your UL credits early.   I suspect that these SL UL to LL may end up coinciding with their (May 2018) ACE expiring / renewal dates.

Here is the good news:  SL's Organizational Behavior is still UL (as MAN-311) at least until the end of month as it is part of the Alternative Credit Project (ACP). Just remember you've got to finish it before March 31, 2018 to lock it in. Also do send it over to TESU through the free SL transcript service, but be sure to add it to your ACE transcripts (under the ACP# & SL#)

Here is the link again of those TESU / APC equivalences: https://www.tesu.edu/academics/cal/acp.cfm

This sounds like Shmoop has control over how TESU brings in the courses, which they don't.  Shmoop submitted their courses to ACE, ACE said they were all Lower Level courses (except Geometry).  TESU decided that for some reason, a few are UL equivalencies.  At any time, they might decide that they are NOT UL, and change it.  EC and COSC have never considered these particular courses as UL, and probably never will.  So TESU has very more than generous - but they don't have to continue that practice forever.

TESU has actually been overly generous over the years in bringing in lots of courses as UL that aren't.  But, if they decide to go the EC/COSC way and stick more closely to ACE/NCCRS recommendations, I would not be surprised.  There's no reason to think that the Intro to Management CLEP exam is UL, when no one else considers it UL, including CLEP!  But they have for a very long time.

Anyway, the only way to ever get UL credits for something that isn't UL through ACE/NCCRS is to take the course immediately and transfer it in, and get it put into your eval right away.  That will lock it in.  Otherwise, you are taking a risk.

If you still need UL coursework, there are 40 true UL courses at Study.com (which for some reason you keep not mentioning in your comments?), along with Davar, and others.  There are PLENTY of UL courses available all over.

When we learned that many of the Study.com courses were being "downgraded" by TESU, dfrecore and I were speculating that TESU was aligning their equivalencies to more closely match ACE recommendations, and that other provider's courses were likely to be downgraded... Seems like this might be what we're seeing.

@dfrecore, yes I know Shmoop has no control and stuff, and schools usually follow the ACE recommendations, I mean that I hope TESU deosn;t downgrade Shmoop courses it already designated. Well for me study.com is a hassle, they don't accept debit cards as payment and their format sucks, no to mention you only get two exams a month. I don't like Study.com. Some people don't like SL, some people don't like Shmoop. As difficult and unstructured as Shmoop is, I rather do Shmoop than Study.com, it's so boring and long. I hate it. And $200 for 2 exams is a lot for me to pay, as I don't qualify for the "scholarship" they offer due to my location. SL for two UL courses was a much better option. Idk, just my thoughts.

@jsd Seems so to me.

You can do more than 2 Study.com courses in a month. It's $70 per additional course. So you can bring it down to $85/course or less on average if you do them quicker.

When I earned my degree at TESU in 2008, my alternative credits were via CLEP, DSST, ECE, and TECEP. The ACE providers weren't around at all- Straighterline was BRAND NEW and ALEKS was maybe the only alternative math I can remember. I know they were around because my son used ALEKS for all 4 years of high school math. The reason this board exists was to initially support people using CLEP and DSST - if you go back to the early days, that was *the* way to test out. (And the GRE which used to be worth a full UL concentration but no longer is- read BAin4weeks to get a snapshot of what used to be possible) We have zillions of ACE providers now, this shows an increase in alternative credit options, not a decline.

Bummer. Get those UL's done quickly if they aren't ACE UL.

This has been god sent. I am planning to complete organizational behavior this weekend. I did see that ACE recommends it as LL but I hope TESU accepts it as UL based on the ACP. I was also planning to do ACC-150 which comes in as TESU Managerial accounting ACC-303. I will send them to TESU before the end of the month to ensure they are credited as such. I will post if I have issues to inform the rest.
7 Classes to Go!

I want to express how much I appreciate what I have learned from this forum. I have never been a big poster but what I have learned from dfrecore, cookderosa, and bjcheung77 I cannot describe. It has changed my life. I appreciate everyone who contributes to this forum, it has made such a difference for me. I am now down to 7 classes and excstatic. I will share my story one day. Thanks again

If anyone misses out on SL Org Behavior, maybe Davar's will continue to be UL. Davar's site currently says MAN-311 for theirs.

I transferred it through the free SL transcript service around 1 month ago and it still came in as ''MAN-212''. Is there something I can do?
