You know, are the Dual Credit people telling you to use ModernStates.org to study for the CLEP exams? Because if you use Modern States, then you can take CLEP's for free (MS sends you a voucher, and then will reimburse you for testing center fees).

If they haven't told you about this, then they are not steering you right (at least financially), and you should ask them about it, and start doing more research for yourself.

Actually, you should start doing the research yourself anyway. If you're smart enough to take CLEP exams and get your AA while graduating from HS, you're certainly smart enough to start working on this alongside your mom! I'm not 100% for a program that makes you a passive participant rather than an active one.

I'll look at Modern States, but does it take a subscription (because even a voucher isn't free).

Nope, it's entirely free.  100%.  Someone is paying for it, but it's not you!

From their website:

Modern States Education Alliance is a non-profit dedicated to making a high quality college education free of cost and accessible to any person who seeks one. Its founding principle is that access to affordable education is fundamental to any philosophy that respects all individuals, and fundamental to the American dream.

Modern States is a philanthropy intended to increase global access to high quality education and seeks to partner with others who share its goals.
