The CCIE, however, is the title I really, really want to have. I bought the laptop I'm on right now just to set up a virtual lab that could handle CCIE studies. Whether I pursue an MS Cyber, an MBA, or just stop schooling, the CCIE is the next hill I plan to climb.
You're braver than I am! I actually considered going and just taking a shot at the IE written but that list of topics combined with my workload was enough to make me step back slowly.
Good luck with it! I always thought it would be awesome to do it, but I don't think I am going to get it done, especially since I'm basically leaving the IT world for now.

Thanks! I'm slowly making a command journal (of sorts) filled with literally every command that could ever be reasonably useful in a testing environment and learning how to use each part. Eventually, the CCIE Lab should be second nature (the written should simply require the memorization of a book or two), and I'll be one of the most knowledgeable Network Engineers to boot (if my diabolical plan works out).

Took and passed the LX0-104 today, meaning I'm officially going to start my Capstone. Huzzah!
This test was obviously in the same vein as the LX0-103, really. Very dry, technical, and to the point. Used the CBT Nuggets course and the WGU cohorts/webinars.

Will do! I wonder why CompTIA made this a lifetime cert, but LPIC says it is only valid for 5 years. shrugs

Oh, I'm not complaining, but I wonder why CompTIA and LPI have different lifespans for the same cert.

Can you just get the LPIC again based off the GFL L+ in 5 years?

Hah, would be nice (but no, it's based on the pass date of the exams, not the active date)

Since enrolling in the capstone, I've got absolutely nothing done on it. Been too busy scoping out the MSCSIA program and its quirks.
So, today, I started looking at the capstone assignments...wait, why are the instructions so awkward and vague?
Task 1 requires me to provide a project idea. One page of instructions seems to require me to upload it, but another page of instructions says that I am required to email it to the mentors. Which is it? Is it both? I'll go with both. Task 2 is the project proposal, and task 3 is the after-action report.
The only hangup I really have is trying to clear my idea with them. I had intended to write a report about an Enterprise Information Security Policy authored by myself as a team effort for a prior class, but that seems to be outside of the scope they really want. As a Cisco man, I might just end up doing a secure networking project.
