It won't let me submit my speech because it says the file is too big. What do I do in this case?

I don't think they let you submit links through YouTube the way SL does. I had to find a way to compress the files. It took a while to figure it out and I can't say the final video quality was any good but it worked.
As far as using powerpoint, I did that on one speech and I just had my computer open and flipped through the pp as I gave the speech. I recorded it with my mobile device. That seemed ok - they gave me a good score.

When you click on the link to submit your assignment, leave the attachment part blank - the last field is where you enter a link -
"Your Assignment (Link) If you are submitting a video, presentation, or other assignment, you may submit a link to YouTube, Prezi, etc. with your assignment. Please make sure that your link can be accessed by anyone with the URL."

you just need a 70 over all in the course. You can fail the final, but still pass the class.

I hoped to be done sooner, but I am still proud of the rate at which I have gotten my schooling done with respect to the many months of military training and deployments I have undergone.

I'm a little lost on the logistics of submitting speeches for this class. Does it have to be a full-length video (like you're standing in front of a room to give a speech), or is just a head shot okay? And has anyone tried using something like Google Hangouts to put your face and your slides both on-screen at the same time? Am I totally overthinking this?

Headshot is fine. I used my cell phone video camera on one video and my webcam on the other. I was sitting in a chair in one of the videos and had my computer open to go through a powerpoint presentation I had created. I kept it really simple - spent very little time on it in comparison to other courses I took - and scored well on everything. I wouldn't overthink it.
