Question about the CLEP, did you take it recently? If so, do you still have the email that said you would get 12 credits for the CLEP, including GRM-202?

I took it recently and, under the new ACE recommendation, it is worth 9 credits if one scores above 60 and 6 credits if one scores below. No langauge CLEP is worth 12 credits any more, but TESU will honor exams taken before ACE revised its credit recommendation. Coming to think of it, the TESU rep was not up to speed on the latest ACE recommendation and thought it was still 12 credits. Hence, her listing of GRM-200 level courses might have been somewhat off. OPI and WPT are on track though.

While we are asking you to check on things, would you mind seeing if the NYU language exams duplicate the ACTFL exams? If not, how would the NYU exams be transcripted?

Thanks :hurray: Not sure about NYU langauge exams and how they duplicate, I just know they cost 400 bucks when shooting for the maximum of 16 credits. Taking the OPIc and WPT for 210 bucks and a maximum of 24 credits offers much more bang for your money.

Quick correction :willynilly: The Writing Proficiency Test also carries a maximum of 12, not 6, credits...6LL and 6UL, so if one takes the OPIc and the WPT and scores highly enough, the maximum available credits are 24...not 18 like I had earlier assumed.

Hence, for 315 bucks one can take the OPIc, WPT and language CLEP for a maximum of 33 credits :coolgleam: not 27 as earlier stated.

Question on the usability for the upper level credits (GRM-327, GRM-328, GRM-401, GRM-499). After the 9 Science credits (CLEP covers these) & Electives; outside of a Language Degree where do these fit best? Would love for my daughter to finish these out but not sure of the value for the BSBA. Seems like an incredible opportunity for a Language degree. Could see our younger daughter having fun with a dual degree in Biology & German.

Look forward to reading some great options because both girls will knock these tests out this week if that's the case.

The OPIc and WPT also double as teaching certifications in certain states...

TESU will accept any language that you can get tested for. Not sure why you would think only French, German, Spanish and Italian would be covered?

They will accept any language you're able to be tested in. You can use it in Gen Ed as Knowledge of Human Cultures or Electives, or in Free Electives.
