Government Exam 51 is that a pass?
#1
Dudes.. : ( I had 100% of IC down, the nutshell notes 100% memorized and high 68 on the peterson tests..I was convinced I'd ace government. studied forEver... and not a single thing came up from any of those questions. no cases, no ammendments, none of that stuff boo hoo. lots of weird questions none of them I recognized. was really hard /disheartening.. Smile OHHHHHHHHHHH WELL.

anyways I can't believe that I don't know the 'passing' score from University of Mass....wondering if anyone really knows?.. or what their schools have for passing .. I'm SO hoping Government Exam is 51... Sad guess I'll call them later on today... .. whimmper... first test.... makes me feel nervous for my intro to sociology. that's another one of those 100% I have it down. oh well we'll see.. gonna take that next. bye bye. Sad

Aisha,

50 is the official ACE assessed passing score on all CLEP exams. Every school is free to determine its own cut-off scores, but it is usual for them to follow the ACE recommendations. I would be surprised if a 51 was not a pass at UMass. You should check with your advisor to ensure that you know which exams are permitted for transfer, how many credits, and what the cut-off scores are. Do your research and it might save you grief later on!

CLEP American Government is thought by many, including me, to be one of the most difficult exams to score very highly on. If you look through the forum, you will find lots of people who ended up with a lower score than they anticipated. This is not the case for ALL CLEP exams, just a few.

CLEP Sociology, on the other hand, is almost universally acknowledged to be one of the easieest exams to do well on (assuming adequate study).

The other thing to remember is that you will become increasingly skilled at taking these exams, the more exams you take. For this reason, we usually recommend starting out by taking some of the 'easier' exams first. This gives you chance to get used to the software, the testing procedures, the testing center, question types, etc.

You probably would have had a better experience if you had taken Intro to Sociology first, rather than an exam like American Government. But you passed it anyway, and can now move on to the next exam.

Keep it up,
Snazzlefrag
My name is Rob
