Just passed my Humanities exam this afternoon (yee hee!) got a 56 with 5 days of study
. I am trying to decide which test to take. Initially I was going to take College Math but I am terrified of Math so today I saw that I could take Social Sciences and History to fulfill my degree requirements. I really want to take the test that is easiest to study for as my brain is FRIED from taking Humanities. I need to complete a 6 credit CLEP (excluding Analyzing Lit) and these are my options. Social Sciences looks promising as I only have to memorize facts but it seems like studying for another Humanities test the more I search the forum. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Also, I am on a time limit. I need to get my last CLep done before August is over (2014).

If you are going to pass the Social Science and History CLEP, you will need to know American History, American Government, Western Civ, Econ, and Sociology. You won't need a deep understand of any of them, but you will need to have a basic understanding of each. I took it after American History I & II, American Government, and Sociology. I still had to guess at many of the answers. Unless you have studies each of the above, College Mathematics will probably be easier. It is far less diverse.

Would you say that Biology is harder than college math? I will be starting from square 1 either test

+Psychology. The content of my exam -
I had lots of History. Next greatest amount of questions were on Psychology, then Economics & Government. Probably 8-10 total questions on Sociology & Anthropology and 4-5 on West Civ & Geography. When I finally reached the end, there were an additional 10 or so more PSY questons (my best subject). I was so happy about that because I was not strong in history or west civ. I had a feeling I got the few west civ questions wrong, only to confirm I was right when I got home and looked up the material.
What school are you attending? Can you use Aleks? I have to agree that if you have no exposure to the social science subjects to at least build upon the math exam (HS level) would be easier. Of course my opinion is subjective; I enjoy math, biology not so much so I would consider it harder. :-)
You may be able to take two exams that easily build on one another in whatever subject you are majoring in or have prior knowledge (ex intro psy and human growth & development).

I have taken the College Math CLEP but not the Biology CLEP. When I took the College Math CLEP, I was at the Intermediate Algebra level. If someone is comfortable with arithmetic, it shouldn't take more than a week or so to study for the College Math CLEP. There is a great book by Comex that costs less than $20 and had me prepared for the test. This was my first math CLEP, so I was scared to death. I would suggest this test to anyone comfortable with pre-algebra math.

How much math did you take in school, and how comfortable are you with it? College Math CLEP covers up to about 10th grade math, so it's actually not terribly hard. Social Sci & Hist is a mixed bag like Humanities, but it's easier than that because in SS&H, there are things like history, which all of us have had some exposure to, and sociology/psychology, which can be common sense. It's more "common knowledge" stuff than the fine arts-y stuff you're tested on in Humanities.
At any rate, I'd say (unless you're really into science) any of the 6-credit science CLEPs will be harder than College Math. I took Natural Sciences and it was way harder.

I decided (after 2 hrs of math study in cracking the clep) I am going to go for the social science and history clep. I am brain dead when it comes to math and I have a law school admission deadline that I cannot afford to gamble with a test on my biggest weakness. I can study facts way better than remembering mathematical terms and formulas. (aaagh!) I just finished the Princeton Review's practice test and scored a 51% (cold). I think I have a better chance at history so Im going for it. I just took the humanities clep and a few questions in the practice test I knew from my humanities studies. ALSO, I took intro to psychology, and accounting 101 last quarter and am currently enrolled in accounting 210. I am going to watch all the the crash course youtube videos on US and World History, and brush up on psychology and economics with IC .
