I know of one, but are there any more Air Force members on here? If so, are you planning to apply to OTS with your distance learning degree?

  Free CLEP handbook
Posted by: anar579 - 02-19-2006, 02:19 AM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (15)

Steve suggested earlier a new thread be started about this for everyone's benefit.

CLEP
There's a free copy of Peterson's CLEP Success available online:
http://www.petersons.com/airforce/clepce...sponsor=8.
I suggest using Internet Explorer to open it, as Firefox froze up on me.

The "Read Book Now" button takes you to the book with all general exams, which includes a pre-test, subject overview, and post-test. At the bottom are 17 full-length exams and answers.

It's a nice supplement to instantcert.com due to the full-length exams, which even the official CLEP handbook from the College Board doesn't provide. Even more helpful for exams not yet covered by instantcert.

DSST/Dantes

Also available is the official DSST book:
http://www.petersons.com/airforce/dsst.asp?sponsor=8.
Same deal with IE.

It might be a good idea to save these files to your hard drive in case they decide to password secure these in the future.

  Is Natural Sciences very "in-depth"?
Posted by: andrea33 - 02-18-2006, 04:20 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (6)

I am taking this test next week, and wondering if it is basic info or very "in-depth" information on the test? I studied the "Passyourclass.com" text, and the "David & Laurie" one as well. I looked over the info & tests out of the "Clep Success" book. So, for those of you who took it (passed,or failed), did it seem tough or what?

Steve (or anyone who knows): What's the calendar feature for?

(I thought I'd ask you here instead of PMing you because I thought perhaps others wanted to know, too.) Thanks in advance!

Has Anybody Taken Any ECE Exams
Posted by: steelers - 02-17-2006, 07:28 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (15)

I need to take the following upper level ECE exams. I'm sure that many of you will need to do the same if your trying to obtain your degree by only taking exams, as Dantes only offers 6 upper level exams.

ECE Ethics Theory and Practice
ECE Human Resource Management
ECE Organizational Behavior
ECE World Population
ECE Abnormal Psychology
ECE Foundations of Gerentology
ECE Psychology of Adulthood and Aging
ECE Research Methods in Psychology

I have heard that the instantcert materials for Human Resource Magament, Organizational Behavior and Ethics crosss over adequately enough to use for the ECE exams. Has anybody used them for those exams?

Also, I might try the Dantes Civil War and Soviet Union upper level exams instead the ECE World Population and ECE Resaerch Methods in Psychology exams. Instantcert is like a security blanket. I can't imagine taking an exam that they don't have materials for. Even though those two Dantes exams might be brutal I would think that I would still be better off mastering instancert's materials for those, versus taking those two ECE exams with no instantcert guide. Any thoughts?

  Just Finished Business Law Clep

I used only the instantcert format as my study tool and scored a 69. I was happy with that after studying for 24 hours over 3 days.

How many questions are on the real test, what is the time limit, and how long have some of you taken to complete it. My time schedule will be tight, but hope to be as prepared as possible!

I have a question about CLEP scores
Posted by: Indriux - 02-16-2006, 09:01 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (9)

Hey everyone,

Does CLEP score counts toward your GPA?
For exampe if I get 56 from Sociology, do they give you a specific grade or just write "passed" in your college transcript? I plan to start taking a lot of CLEP exams to finish my degree as soon as possible, but I don't want to ruin my GPA of 4.0 if the CLEP scores will be on lower side even if I pass it.

  DSST Public Speaking
Posted by: lspahn - 02-16-2006, 01:37 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (14)

Has anyone had any luck with the Public Speaking DSST exam? I know that there is a speech tied with it. Your only get 10-15 minutes to prep up a speech from scratch..which is pretty scarey to me...Anyone have any luck???
