I applied for the ASPSS in Emergency Manangement more than six weeks ago. I just received my degree audit from TESC. It says I need 33 SH. They only gave me credit for 9 of my 31 FEMA courses. Has anyone else on this forum applied for the ASPSS and not received credit for FEMA courses?
I have 31 FEMA courses, 3 NFA courses, 12 PONSI credits for the NYC Fire Academy, 15 credits for Clep exams, and 9 credits for DANTES/DSST exams.

I have run my own business for quite a few years, and now it is failing. Unfortunately, without a degree, no matter how great the record setting achievements that I have had, it does not matter - no one will look at me.
I'm seriously pressed for time to complete this degree to get any kind of job that will support my very large family. I only had 12 credits from 20+ years ago and met the Writing Requirement, Biology, Psych, and Nutrition. I have had an official eval from Excelsior regarding the writing requirement so that is good news!
I've been averaging 6 to 9 credits per week. Mostly have done business classes, plus Sociology and Religion. I was hoping to get into a Pearson next week since the Clep/Dantes are out for the holidays but no such luck. I now am scheduled Jan 22 for HRM and World Populations. It has taken an entire month to schedule for them - I did not see that coming.
I tried doing a search for the best way to group, and I see that Human Growth & Development with ED Psych would work. I also thought about History 1 & 11 and the Social Sciences and History 6 credit exam on the 2nd of Jan which is the first date I could schedule anything.
I am literally going to run out of money in a few months, and thank the Lord I have some assistance with the cost of these tests from my father in law. Could anyone help me group these into 9 or 12 credits tests per week ?(except excelsiors - I am figuring no more than 2 exams per week on those)
ALSO< I need to come up with 1 additional lower level test to take in addition to what I have listed below. And the Analyzing Literature is over my head, I am a very literal person.

I took the CLEP Macroeconomics exam yesterday and I just recently finished my on-line Accounting II class, so, while taking a break from studying I thought I would share some of my experience for whatever it's worth.
When I started out on this journey to obtain an Excelsior degree (associates at first--then I switched to bachelors) I tried to decide what I thought I could teach myself and what I thought I could not. I also wanted to maximize my music training--which was acquired in non-regionally accredited institutions. So I decided to forego the now defunct six credit CLEP Accounting exam and take Accounting at my local community college--as I was not convinced I could learn such a broad subject on my own. Why?
Well, for one, it was very inexpensive. California community colleges charge $20 per credit hour for residents--which makes most of them cost about the same as CLEP and DSST exams. Also, it was a five (5) credit class--so I would be knocking off ten (10) credits by the time I completed Accounting I and II. They also had a one-credit Introduction to Research class ($20 and I photocopied the pages I needed out of the book--so no book cost) that satisfied Excelsior's Information Literacy requirement. Finally, my college required any student who wished to challenge any courses via credit-by-examination to be enrolled in at least six (6) credits--and I wanted to challenge as many music courses as possible--so my 5+1 took care of that as well.
One thing I wasn't able to take complete advantage of was the fully-accredited Work/Study program. If I could've used more elective credits--I could have acquired twelve (12) credits in the work/study program--which basically required you to document a project at your place of employment (1 page). Up to four (4) credits were available each semester and you could do it three (3) times. By the time the semester was over I was not in need of any further elective credit and I had successfully challenged five (5) music classes for twelve (12) more credits.
I didn't know it at the time, but my Accounting I class was their first attempt at teaching Accounting on-line (technically it was hybrid--I had to show up four times) and the teacher had not yet adapted to this method of teaching. All homework was completed on pre-formatted spreadsheets and when you entered the correct numbers they turned blue. Those were due weekly and there were quizzes at each of the four meetings. Actually, he forgot at one of the meetings so there were only three quizzes--and he gave us the answer before we handed each of them in. The "final" exam ended up being some more homework assignments which we completed at home--complete with the spreadsheets that turned blue when you entered the correct numbers. In spite of the almost laughable format--accounting is hard and I spent a lot of hours getting those numbers to turn blue!
Accounting II was the real deal. I was terrified and regretting my decision when I started Accounting II, since I had acquired almost no knowledge in Accounting I. I would say that I put in the equivalent study time for 4-5 CLEP or DSST exams to complete Accounting II--but complete it I did.
Now that it's over I'm glad I did it this way--mostly for the fringe benefits (work/study credits and challenging the music classes) and I did, in fact, learn something in Accounting II.
I just thought I would share my experience in case it was helpful to anyone who is in the position I was last year. If anyone has read this far and wants to know more--post away or send me a PM. Thanks.

Hi, I am new to this site. I just registered at Excelsior and I have been studying for an English clep. I know that Excelsior will only give me 3 credits for it, but ..well...I have already studied. So, my question is, can I take any of the Psych, tests prior to taking the generals? Or, must I take the generals first?

Hi all. This is my first post. I just got my evaluation from Excelsior and was blown away that all I need for my BS LS is the Eng Comp. I had taken a few college classes and had tested Clep and Dantes while in the Navy 20 years ago. I had retired as a Navy Senior Chief in Electronics and that really helped with my upper-level classes. I will be taking the Eng 101 via on-line come Jan. but now I am looking into graduate school.
Can anyone recommend a good course of action. I want to get an MBA, I would like to go for Project Management if possible. I already have my CAPM certification.
Thanks for the help

Anyone taken this? It actually looks really interesting- the IC cards seem pretty applicable, but I'm wondering how else one would prepare for it?
I did a cold run through on the cards and was getting about 75-80% already so I'm wondering what else I would use to review, since I may be able to take the test and do ok on it.
Anyone have any information on it?

I don't know if this is a good or bad thing.
My college trancripts have been sent to both schools (Excelsior, TESC).
I'm just waiting on IT Certifications to process.
When I applied, I originally chose BS Liberal Studies for both.
Yesterday, I decided to change that for both schools for Business MIS.
Excelsior allows you to change degree paths over the phone, TESC requires you to send an email.
I got an email response back today from TESC:
Quote:I have forwarded your request to change majors to the registrars office for processing. I have also mailed out a hard copy of your evaluation to you for your records. The new evaluation should be viewable online in 3-5 days.
I don't know if this is a good thing or a bad thing, since my IT Certifications have not processed yet, but at least I'll have a good idea or requirements for any remaining Gen Ed classes.
I quickly emailed TESC back inquiring about the pending IT Certification transcripts.

Quote: LinkedIn is a business-oriented networking site founded in December 2002 and launched in May 2003 [1] (comparable to a social networking site), mainly used for professional networking. As of November 2007, it had more than 16 million registered users, spanning 150 industries and more than 400 economic regions (as classified by the service).
I have found this to be an extremely valuable tool for making business contacts and landing job offers. If any of you are interested or are already a member, PM me so we can connect.
