After searching for a college that offered this DSST, I finally took it today. Not a hard exam, but overall doable. Can't believe I had to pay $90 for it though. First time paying for these exams (CLEPS and DSSTs) since joining the Navy. How do regular people pay for these exams i.e. I've seen a lady take 4 CLEPs and 2 DSSTs exams today! Geez, that would alot of money for someone frugual like me!

Ok I thought I was prepared to take this test, I read most of the stuff I could possibly read on the internet and even bought tons of study materials but I scored just 49 in my Intro Sociology today. So far I have a 3.5 GPA in school and I am worried if there will be a big fat FAILED marked on my college transcript. :-(( I wasted money and time only to fail.
Guys, do they mark fail in the transcript?

Hello everyone,
I'm enrolled at Empire State College. I have to say I'm very unhappy with the mentor that they assigned to me. He's not helpful at all. I ask him questions and he gives me very vague answers. He made me type up all the CLEP and Excelsior exams I was planning to take. He told me to e-mail him the list. When I sent it to him, he asked "what is this?" I told him this is what you told me to send you. He goes ohh, I don't need that.
That's not the first time he did this. When I was doing the degree planning he made me do a bunch of BS that had nothing to do with the class.
I'm really glad I found this site and I will be registering with instantcertonline.com in the next few days.
The main drawback with Excelsior with me is, I have several professional licenses. Series 7,24,63, Real Estate Brokers License,NY life and health insurance licenses. Empire state College gives credit for these. I'm not sure if Excelsior does.
I'm not looking for a degree in any particular area. I have 16 credits I can transfer over. I'm looking for the easiest, fastest possible degree program.
What would you guys suggest? This is just to fulfill the American Bar Associations requirement.
I went to a H.S. that was a similar format to CLEP and Dantes. They gave me a book made me study and I took exams for my grades. I'm Proficient in this format. I could probably do an exam a week. I have a lot of free time to study.
How long does it take to schedule these exams? Do you know of any good testing sites in Long Island NY that are computer based?
I'm sure I'll have a million questions in the future.
Thanks in Advance =)

I've decided that instead of waiting for Excelsior and TESC to get back with me on evaluations, I would go ahead and start taking CLEP exams. I'm still unsure which degree program I want to take (will depend on transcripts). Since I don't have any business courses on my transcripts, I've decided to go with the following exams (in order):
Principles of Management
Principles of Marketing
Principles of Macroeconomics
Principles of Microeconomics
Introductory Business Law
The reason why I picked these exams in this order is for several reasons:
1. I believe they are all transferable to Excelsior and TESC.
2. They are all covered by IC.
3. They are all subjects I am interested in.
4. Management and Marketing both have alternative ways to be fulfilled incase of failure.
5. With exception of IBL, the order is also based on quantity of people and quality of score that passed the exams with IC and other study materials.
6. CLEP exams are offered daily (locally) where DANTES are offered bi-weekly.
Do you think I have a solid gameplan going into this?
I have an interview with KSC's Space Program on Wednesday, so I have decided to start studying on Thursday. If I'm offered the position, I will need to make a decision on whether I want to go to school part-time or full-time.
