I just have to pour my heart out about how happy I am!!!
On a personal level, this school year was very difficult for me. My mother died of esophageal and lung cancer back in September, and my father has been sick. My mom's death was very upsetting and difficult...I wondered if I would be able to manage everything during her illness. But I promised myself I would not give up. Through all the saddness and family upheval, I kept up with my classes and tests.
Now....as of today, my journey as an undergraduate is OVER!!! I received the results in the mail for my FINAL test (Charter Oak's Introduction to Early Childhood Education) and I PASSED! My hands were shaking as I opened the envelope.
I never thought I would actually have the opportunity to graduate from college, largely due to finances. However, once I left my ex husband (and no longer had to clean up his major financial messes), I was able to actually get student loans and finish my degree. He once laughed at me that I was, "Just a customer service rep with no degree....hhhaaahhaaa!" (This was the man that flunked out of college after one semester).
Guess what, ex? I did it! And it feels wonderful how much my life has turned around. Thank you current husband, and son, for all your support.

Okay, I just went to see fools gold, which was very boring by the way, half way through the person next to me starts taking out his phone, texting, checking messages ect...
I starting staring at this guy with the look of death, he continued, I decided to just leave and get a refund. I was surprised how easy it was to get a refund when I complained about the cell phone issue.
But in all seriousness I am almost finished with the movie theatre, almost every single time I go there is someone with a cell phone out, and usually they are next to me. One time my girlfriend almost got into a physical fight with someone because of this issue.
What are everyones thoughts on this issue and do you see theatre attendence going down with this issue and with the way media is so readily avaliable through netflix, downloading ect...

Hello all,
Is the Here's to Your Health DSST a multiple choice test? This is the first time I am taking a Dantes exam and I signed up with IC today. My test is next Friday, February 15, 2008.
I have read the forum responses under the DSST Here's to Your Health (specific exams) but I am confused on how to access more information because some people have links posted there to click on and it takes me back to General Education and Testing Discussion Section.
I have been studying the Here's to Your Health Pass You Class Dantes/DSST study guide since this past Tuesday but it seems quite vast in material. Can anyone help me? I am getting flustered and confused because everyone's answers are so subjective.
I am starting to panic because I just do not know where to start? I am taking an Employment Law Class as well and I have written assignments due next Wednesday, February 15, 2008. I am having problems prioritizing.
I appreciate in advance any comments or suggestions you may have for me,
Thank you,
boots2005

I'm sitting at the testing center right now waiting to take my statistics test. They are having technical issues, so I'm waiting. I'm so nervous, I almost started crying on the drive here. I can't say I feel prepared, but I decided that I'm going to try it. I'm really hoping that God will have his hand in on this one (as he does in every are). I'm supposed to take the written, but for some stupid reason, I want to take the on-line. That's me... add more stress to my life. I guess I just need to know if I passed. Please everybody, pray for me. Pray that I can pass this. I know if I don't, it's not the end of the world, I can retest in 6 months or just take the class, but as you all know, it's so much cheaper and less time consuming to do it this way. Anyway, I'm going to try and study on-line while I'm waiting. Thanks in advance for prayers.

Where is the Peterson't Practice test for A&I? I did searches & also checked the DSST Prometric site but didn't locate it. Also, since A&I is a CLEP and Peterson's is DSST I don't get the connection between the two. Is this Perterson's possibly only offered in bookform/disk like the REA or something ( I didn't see it on Amazon)? I did notice the A&I is on the Peterson's site for military personnel & their families but we are not military & feel uncomfortable using it (let me know if I've missed something like perhaps guests are permitted). Peterson's is so highly recommended we would like to use it for A&I. My son & daughter will be using REA though & plan on taking the test in the next few weeks.
Thanks to everyone for their helpful information on this site!

This afternoon, at SMU -- scored 63. After I finished, the proctor said that, in 4 years of administering the Nat Sci test, she's had only a handful of people pass it. As a literature/history nerd with zero math skills and not much more in science, I'm really pleased. No more math or science standing between me and a BA!
Before I forget, here are a few of the topics covered:
- Chemical bonding, formulas and equations -- lots of it, mostly simple stuff
- Structure of atoms, and their masses and weights and isotopes -- know how to calculate based on various types of expressions
- Laws of motion -- Newton, Galileo
- Types of waves (light, sound, etc.)
- Conduction
- Classification of animals and plants
- Food chain
- What rocks are found where
- Genetics -- pedigrees and calculating probabilities
- Solar system and stars -- basics of what's going on with them
- Topographical maps
- Common diseases -- what they are, how they're spread
- Cell biology and mitosis
- Basic human anatomy and organ systems
- DNA, RNA, and proteins
- Earth's atmosphere
As expected, some of the questions are just common sense. A few others seemed tailor-made for a language nerd: I could "divine" the answer by analyzing the words in the answer choices and thinking how they might relate to the question.
But without extensive study -- approximately 50 hours -- I would never have passed this thing. Here's what I used:
- Life on Earth by Audesirk, Audesirk, & Byers (But read very selectively; it goes into way too much detail on most subjects. Keep the College Board's test outline firmly in mind)
- Standard Deviants Biology: Highly recommended for the cell, chemical bonding, DNA/RNA/proteins. But barely touches on genetics, which I could have used more of.
- Standard Deviants Chemistry I: Not as helpful as Biology, but still worth the money. Good for chemical equations and bonding
- REA 2008: Very well done, with drills at the end of each chapter that turned out to closely follow the test.
- Kaplan 2005: I used the practice tests from this, but found the reviews not well written enough to be helpful. They left me scratching my head.
- Wikipedia: Great for looking up most any topic, although the science articles are mostly written with the specialist in mind. Thank heaven for cross references.
For 6 science credits, I recommend Nat Sci over Biology unless you've learned a lot of biology in your job. I compared the two, and Biology goes way too deep. The thing about Nat Sci is that, if you were paying attention in those Biology, Chemistry, and Physics classes you took in high school, you already have a nice platform on which to build for Nat Sci. But you won't have even 10% of the biology knowledge you would need to pass the Biology CLEP.
I hope this helps someone who needs 6 science credits. I want to give back, for all the benefit I've gained here!
