Metropolia credits to UMPI? (not Finnish language)
Posted by: SunnySideOfBPD - 04-15-2026, 07:48 AM - Forum: UMPI - University of Maine at Presque Isle Discussion - No Replies

Hi guys, I started redoing my study plan for UMPI (plans changed from TESU to UMPI due to financial reasons), and I have completed some courses at Metropolia university. From what I know (so far), TESU only accepts credits from Metropolia. Had anyone tried to transfer credits to UMPI (not Finnish lang)? Or any other EU university transcript (I'm currently enrolled in Italian university, but the major is different from what I wanted to take at UMPI)?

Probably my question is too stupid yet I got lost a bit after scrolling the forum and Miraheze wiki... thank you guys anyway!

UPD: so I can do WES as a part of NACES evaluator. But probably everything will be LL

Any other soft skills AI can't replace?

We Trust AI Over Our Own Brains, Research Finds

Has anyone had an experience where they trusted AI, only to discover it was wrong?

Are people still testing these days?
Posted by: burbuja0512 - 04-14-2026, 05:18 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (9)

Hi all,

Back to degree planning after a lengthy hiatus... now working on daughter's degree instead of my own.  I have SO.MANY.QUESTIONS.

Do people still take CLEPs and DSSTs or should I be looking more at filling DD's degree plan with classes like Sophia or Straighterline?   Do those offer Upper Level?  How are people getting their UL credits these days?    How long are people taking to finish a class on average?  It's been so long since I took my Straighterline class I can barely remember it!

Just wondering how much things have changed and what I should be doing differently to help DD get her degree.   I'm still working on trying to even figure out the degree plan for her since my skills at degree plan creation are obsolete.   I would welcome any tips or advice that you have to get started with the new landscape (new to me) where "testing out" is no longer the main thing.  (OR is it??)

I really appreciate any and all help or comments.   Thanks in advance.

A New Model For College?
https://www.forbes.com/sites/marybethgas...r-college/

Quote:ETS, Khan Academy, and TED are coming together to launch a new higher education entity – the Khan TED Institute. This venture, which includes employer partners Microsoft, Google, Accenture, Bain, McKinsey, and Replit, is designed to build on the surge in generative AI usage. The team behind the Institute is focused on “rethinking college from the ground up: rigorous academic foundations, applied AI skills, and durable human skills, all built around demonstrated competency, not seat time.” And, they aim to do all of this in an accessible manner – the cost for students will be less than $10,000.

Given that we've heard about this sort of thing for a while now, I can't help but be reminded of Betteridge's Law of Headlines.

UoP/IBM Cybersecurity Credential - where can I show that it's 12 ACE college credits?
Posted by: kevinmane - 04-14-2026, 11:14 AM - Forum: UoPeople - University of the People Discussion - Replies (3)

So I just finished doing the Cybersecurity 12-credit course through IBM via University of the People.

How do I get this onto my ACE Transcript? Or better asked: How can I show someone that this course is worth 12 ACE-recommended college credits? Like what document can I grab and have be sent over to either a school or employer to show it's worth ACE-recommended college credits?

  Best Degree Plan Help
Posted by: burbuja0512 - 04-13-2026, 02:19 PM - Forum: Degree Planning Advice - Replies (2)

Hi all,

I have my very old COSC degree and now my DD is in high school wanting to start testing out!   I have been scouring the site and trying to get caught up and wondering the best place to get started.

TESU is looking like a good option so far.  Where are the latest degree plans or can someone point me in the direction of the MOST RECENT degree plans that would be good for my DD to use as a starter template.   I'm getting confused because a lot that are on the site are old like my knowledge, so I'm hoping that someone can give me a few links of the newer and more up to date templates. Happy to look at options that aren't TESU if you have good ones too!

Regarding what type of degree we are looking for... not entirely sure yet and we are still weighing all of our options.     I used to be so good at figuring out degree plans and now I just feel lost!!!!  Thanks for your help.

Angelo State University MA in Mental Health and Wellness Counseling
Posted by: staceydiane - 04-13-2026, 01:25 PM - Forum: Graduate School Discussion - Replies (11)

I got accepted to this program and I'm starting in June.  I'm really excited (and nervous) about it.  Because of my TESU GPA (3.5) Angelo State gave me the Distinguished Graduate Scholarship ($2000 for the year) which gives me an in-state tuition waiver.

I spent months researching graduate programs. (I overthink EVERYTHING.)  I don't think I want to end up an LPC, but Angelo State has an LPC bridge program should I change my mind.  Right now my career goal is working in human services, but addictions counseling also interests me, so I might go for that later.

In the Summer Semester, I'm taking Theories of Counseling and Social and Cultural Influences.
