I have an old laptop with a faulty p key. (You have no idea how much you use the p key!) Historic desktop at home. I have only used windows and microsoft. My good friend uses a mac and says it is not hard to learn to use a mac. I have an Iphone and I understand they would sync. I write a lot, and I would like to use the computer for powerpoint. Would appreciate any advice you have for preferences and why. I went back over this and pounded in every missing p! Thanks!

Hi All,
My name is Daniele, I am Italian and I am working in China.
I want to realize my dream: getting an US Degree in Marketing. I have been looking at different options and I think TESC is probably the best solution for me.
The BSBA in Marketing is what I would love to do.
That's my situation:
- I need the TOEFL score - I am currently working in China for the Australian Chamber of Commerce, do you think a letter from the GM attesting my English level could be useful to avoid this test (will save me around 250$)?
- I am looking at Straighterline, is the only recognized source that currently offer the opportunity to do everything online?
- Last year I got an Executive Certificate in Global Marketing through Thunderbird by passing 3 exams in 6 months, I hope to get as much credits as I can thanks to this course (cost more than 4,000$).
- I have a previous university experience in Italy, anyone has experience with non-US university?
- last question, after getting a degree from TESC, it is more difficult to get the access to some MBA from, for example, Thunderbird or others "famous" universities?
Thank you very much to all of you!

automatic fail for absences |

I was looking at the syllabus for one of my classes that I'm registered for this semester. In the syllabus it says that if you are late to class you will be marked absent. It then goes on to say that three absences and you will automatically fail the class.
Can the professor do this? If he tries to do this, will the university stand by it or will they intervene and not allow him to fail people.
I'm the type of person who is always early to class and rarely misses a day of class so it shouldn't be a problem for me, but his policy seems a little overboard.
What really irks me about professors like this is that they attended college when attendance didn't matter. Just show up for mid-term and final, as long as you do ok you passed.

Coursera.org - Have You Taken Any Courses through Them? |

Has anyone taken any Coursera courses? I've just signed up for one taught by a UVA professor. It starts today, and it's on business strategy. I figure it will help me with my business strategy test or course.
There's one coming up on constitutional law by a Yale professor, and one from a ?Duke? professor on slavery in America. Lots of these courses would help us with future classes or tests. I REALLY want to take the one on constitutional law, and the slavery one looks VERY interesting, but I'm limiting myself to opportunities that will help me finish my three final courses/tests: stats, col. alg., and strategic business mgmt. It's exciting to live in these times with these opportunities. It's really amazing. It's weird when I talk to students or parents of students who are having problems with classes. They might have vaguely heard of Khan Academy - maybe - but that's it. There are so many resources out there, and it seems like folks like us are the only ones who know about them. There's no excuse for not learning what you need to learn. Bad professor? Professor who has a mannerism that gets your goat? No problem. Go to class, learn what you can, and then go on-line to learn what you really need - and want - to know.

Greetings,
I've been lurking these forums (and others) trying to make a decision on which TESC degree to pursue. I was hoping someone could generously aid me as I feel I've exhausted a reasonable amount of resources. On top of that I'm becoming overwhelmed with the enormous pool of information out there. banghead
I'm looking at the BA Computer Science, BSAST Information Technology, and BSBA Computer Information Systems from Thomas Edison State College. I'm to a point where I'd like to finish as quickly (and frugally) as possible. I currently have an A.S Information Technology degree from UMass Lowell. A list of completed courses is found towards the bottom of this post. Just from lurking here I've learned that there are numerous resources for testing out (CLEP, TECEP, TEEX, DSST, ALEKS, FEMA to name a few), but I just don't know which I'll be taking advantage of.
Should I just pay and apply to all 3? Is there any way I can unofficially audit the below courses with TESC to get a degree plan?
Given the below courses which degree do you think would be most easily attained?
Edinboro University
CSCI 104 Essential Computing I

I am totally new to this but very excited that I found a way to continue education without a huge price tag and flexible schedule. So I want to finish my AS and then seeking for a BA.
Currently, I have about 30 credits from a credited tech school.
My questions is, other than the big three, how many credits do most school accept from CLEP, DSST, etc? My friend told me, each school is only taking 30 max. Is that true? I know my community school will take 30 from CLEP. Does that mean combined with the other 30 credits, I only need to take 1-2 courses to get my AS?
