  "New Ivies" According to Forbes
Posted by: sanantone - 05-14-2024, 07:03 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (4)

Forbes claims that employers are souring on the Ivy League colleges. Some of the listed schools have long been classified by some as Ivy Plus, Southern Ivies, or Public Ivies, but I'm just sharing the latest news.

The Public Ivies:

Binghamton University (New York)
Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia)
University of Florida
University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign
University of Maryland-College Park
University of Michigan-Ann Arbor
University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill
University of Texas-Austin
University of Virginia
University of Wisconsin-Madison (Wisconsin)
Note: Military academies were not included in their analysis and the University of California universities were excluded as well because they don’t consider test scores.

The Private Ivies:

Boston College (Massachusetts)
Carnegie Mellon University (Pennsylvania)
Emory University (Georgia)
Georgetown University (District of Columbia)
Johns Hopkins University (Maryland)
Northwestern University (Illinois)
Rice University (Texas)
University of Notre Dame (Indiana)
University of Southern California
Vanderbilt University (Tennessee)
Note: Forbes’ analysis excluded schools with fewer than 4,000 students, the “Ancient Eight,” and four Ivy-plus schools: Stanford, MIT, Duke, and the University of Chicago.

Information WGU MHA
Posted by: Cocolisa1 - 05-14-2024, 09:11 AM - Forum: Graduate School Discussion - Replies (11)

I was informed that I can't join the MHA program at WGU due to my lack of work experience in the field. I hold certifications as a Drug and Alcohol counselor in NY and as a phlebotomist. Suggestions on where I can go to GRAD school? I have a B.L.S. in Management and Pre-Law from UMPI.

Maybe public health instead; I'm not sure at this point, honestly, and any help will do. thanks

I'm just curious. Yesterday something was posted in Arabic script. According to Google translate it was regarding a method to calculate one's age based on the Islamic calendar. I asked what was the purpose of the post. I am not able to find the post this morning. Was it deleted?

  ASBA at TESU
Posted by: cryanoheight - 05-13-2024, 01:07 PM - Forum: Degree Planning Advice - Replies (1)

Hello,

I started working on an associate's degree in business administration several years ago. Life got in the way, and I had to put that on hold for quite a while.

Anyway, it looks like things have changed, and I'm not sure where to pick up. I'm still interested in an ASBA from TESU, but I don't know what might transfer in/what's still valid. Can anyone help me?

Here's what I have completed:

Sophia.org:

Public Speaking 08/17/2020
Statistics 07/25/2020
Psychology 06/21/2020
MacroEconomics 05/13/2020
College Algebra 05/05/2020

CLEP, I don't recall the dates on any of these, but they must've been around 2016
Intro to Sociology
American Government
Computer Concepts and Applications
US History I

TEEX
TEEX Cyber Ethics - 01/28/2020

  Network Technology Class
Posted by: ACI - 05-13-2024, 10:57 AM - Forum: TESU - Thomas Edison State University Discussion - Replies (3)

Hello! I'm currently enrolled in the network technology class through TESU and I'm in my second week. However, I am unfamiliar with many of the concepts that the assignments ask me to write about. It seems like a prerequisite to understand these things because these concepts aren't being taught in class. I haven't been able to access the TestOut software yet so I asked the professor about that. Does the main source of teaching come from the TestOut software? Thanks

I need advice regarding the application, duration and scholarships
Posted by: arnoldparrish - 05-13-2024, 05:37 AM - Forum: General "Big 3", B&M colleges, and other colleges - Replies (4)

I am highly interested in pursuing my bachelor's degree in IT from UMASS global. I am an Indian. Am I eligible to apply or study in my country? I am 20 and currently not studying in college, just dropped a year to decide on the best field according to my skillset and came up with this choice. I can give 6 to 8 hours a day to my studies. Can I complete the degree in 2 terms? I can do accredited courses from other platforms to get my credit transferred for this degree. Is there any scholarship or financial aid program available? Please refer to me if you have any experience in the above topic. I need guidance so that I can start my degree journey asap without delay. I highly appreciate your suggestions. Thank you and have a nice day.

  UMPI CBE Bachelor program.
Posted by: Sum007@ - 05-13-2024, 04:38 AM - Forum: UMPI - University of Maine at Presque Isle Discussion - Replies (12)

hello everyone hope y'all are well.

I've completed my O&A levels followed by a diploma in business. Now, I'm considering pursuing a bachelor's degree, and I'm interested in the UMPI CBE program. My main concern is whether a degree from UMPI CBE would be recognized for admission to master's programs in Europe or the US and if it could help me secure scholarships. Affording my master's education without scholarships might be difficult for me.

Apologies for making a new thread. When I post a reply, they don't seem to appear on the master thread.

Are there any current students who can give an insight into how long final projects are currently taking to be graded?  Thank You!

Any leads on cheap-ish studio art classes?
Posted by: RachelB - 05-12-2024, 10:27 PM - Forum: General Education-Related Discussion - Replies (6)

I realize most people here are looking to do cheap, fast, and online courses, so maybe this isn't the best place to ask, but it's worth a shot...

I'd love to take some studio art classes (for personal enrichment) and I have nieces gifted in that area, so I'd like to help them out with info, too (about credit-bearing classes).

Does anyone know of studio art classes (or online classes for certain mediums would be okay, too) that grant college credit that are actually affordable? I only ever see recommendations to take them at a community college, but the ones I've been looking at are $800-1500ish, minimum.

ETA: Location could be anywhere in the United States.

Thanks for any info you can provide!
