English Comp II on Sophia vs at UMPI |

Hi Everyone,
Just wanted to get your thoughts on a question I'm pondering. I'm starting UMPI on September 3rd and I'm considering doing the Sophia version of English Comp II freeing up that slot for another elective. Ever since I've been on this forum, I've heard most people advising to leave this course to UMPI because it's much easier there. Another reason I'm thinking of doing the Sophia version is to go into September with a running start, as far as writing goes, as opposed to starting cold.
What do you guys think? Is Sophia really that muh harder? I happen to write somewhat well and actually enjoy the process.
Thx!

This thread is a follow up on my first post on Degree Forum where I inquired about which path to take at which school. After that discussion I decided to pursue a bachelor from UMPI. That thread can be found by clicking here.
Attaching the template filled out with updated information. As you can see significant progress was made on Sofia and Coursera. The Sofia and Coursera courses and certificates appear to transfer to UMPI per their very helpful transfer equivalency tool which can be found by clicking here.
I applied to UMPI on 07/05/2024. Transcripts sent 07/05/2024. Accepted 07/17/2024, with a Fall 2024 semester start date of 09/03/2024.
Your Location: USA
Your Age: 41
What kind of degree?: Bachelor
Budget: No budget constraints.
Commitments: Full time work and a wife, but I have some extended amounts of free time through the end of the year.
Dedicated time to study: Unlimited for the next several months.
Timeline: ASAP
Tuition assistance/reimbursement: Employer's tuition reimbursement program is currently suspended for the year.
Goal?: Obtain a bachelor degree of any type ASAP
RA Credits / Other: A few classes from various state colleges in Florida:
- CTS-2142 Project Management
- ENC-1101 English Comp 101
- CGS-1100 Microcomputer Applications
- CET-1178 Computer Hardware Support
- CGS-2557 Internet Technologies

- CCJ-1020 Intro to Criminal Justice
Sophia Learning Credits:

Any certifications or military experience?
- Law Enforcement Officer - Excelsior offers 39 credits for the academies I attended, as do several others.
- Airline Transport Pilot (FAA) - Several colleges offer ~35 credits, Liberty offers 40, but I do not think UMPI will as they do not have an aviation program.
- CompTIA Security+
- CompTIA Network+
- IBM Cybersecurity Analyst
- Google Project Management
- Google IT Support Professional
- Google Data Analytics
- TEEX - The easiest, fastest credits you will find anywhere. And they're free.
According to the credit transfer tool on the UMPI website referenced above:
- IBM Cybersecurity Analyst - 10 credits of GEL 1XX.
- Google Project Management - 3 credits of BUS 1XX, 3 of BUS 3XX, and 3 for BUS 400 Project Management Applications.
- Google IT Support - 12 credits of COS 1XX.
- Google Data Analytics - 6 credits of BUS 1XX, 3 for BUS 245 Programming for Managers, and 3 credits of COS 3XX.
- CompTIA Network+ - 3 credits COS 1XX.
- CompTIA Security+ - 3 credits COS 1XX.
I am planning on either a BABA MIS and Project Management, or a BLS with triple minors Management, Business Administration, and Project Management.
I will keep this thread updated with what UMPI accepts as credit, the amount of credit awarded, the courses that credit covers, degree program advised by the counselor with my credits and the goal of quick completion, degree program selected, minor selected, courses taken at UMPI, and the timeframes for course completion.
I look forward to any input, questions, comments, concerns, or encouragement anybody may have.

TAMUC considering rebranding |

A lot of scuttlebutt lately about Texas A&M Commerce spending $100,000, including hiring a third-party consulting agency, to explore the possibility of a rebranding/name change. The main name being considered is Texas A&M Dallas.
https://www.texasstandard.org/stories/te...-petition/
The University President has hosted four open forums explaining the reasoning behind the push to adopt "Dallas" into the name and listen to stakeholder feedback.
What say you? Is a multi-site university serving the greater DFW metro area a good candidate to be called Texas A&M Dallas? Or is Commerce, TX too far away from Dallas for that to make sense?

How to register / sign up for a specific degree at TESU? |

I'm currently "enrolled" at TESU via signing up for a free June TECEP last month. All my credits are transferred in and I seem to have most of an Art degree and a good chunk of a CS degree. So I'm wanting to try and work on a double degree path between Art & CS. Right now I'm just using the planning tool on TESU to look at requirements for each degree but my official "degree plan" is listed by TESU as general liberal arts or something like that. Do I need to talk to an advisor and officially sign up for the two degrees I want to pursue. Or is that something you do when you eventually apply for graduation?

Looking for another BS degree option (non-IT) |

Hi All,
I am back with questions.
I hold a BS/MS in IT and am currently exploring opportunities to diversify my academic profile. I am particularly interested in non-IT fields such as healthcare or other disciplines. My goal is to find a program that recognizes my previous academic credits, thereby allowing me to complete the degree with minimal additional coursework and cost. This endeavor is primarily aimed at enhancing my professional profile with a degree from a non-IT field.

Hmm, started a couple of hours ago... I've since received over 30+ emails from StraighterLine, some are congrats for finishing the classes, others are reminders for me to complete the classes (labs, I haven't started them yet), and a couple more mentioning I'm so close to completing (Philosophy, Stats - I did all 3 classes and passed only the Business Stats).
Anyways, I haven't used them since I did 34 or so classes with them in 2016 and now I'm getting so much spam today!! What's up with them? Are they looking to get previous students to take newer classes from them? If so, they should send out BETTER DEALS instead of these spam emails! That's not the way to get more business, by spamming people...
