  Social Work Degree Coming Soon?
Posted by: swlearner71 - Yesterday, 09:22 AM - Forum: WGU - Western Governors University Discussion - Replies (2)

Hello Forum Fellows,

I wanted to share an interesting find. Perhaps it will be of interest to some of you.

I’ve heard rumors for a while that WGU might offer an MSW, and recently it seems more plausible. WGU has posted several job openings for social work evaluators, which could suggest that a program may be coming soon. Although nothing has been officially announced.

WGU already has experience coordinating internships and in-person training requirements for other programs (Teaching & Nursing), so it would be interesting to see how a potential MSW field placement model might work. If WGU were to move forward with an MSW, pursuing CSWE accreditation would likely be an important consideration. Accreditation plays a major role in licensure eligibility in all states, I believe.

Many people have expressed interest in a program like this over the years, so it will be interesting to see how it is received if it comes to fruition. It's not the counseling program many wanted, but an MSW provides many of the same opportunities in the field of mental health. If implemented, it could offer increased flexibility compared to traditional MSW programs, which typically take two years if the student comes in without a BSW. I am not aware of any competency-based MSW programs currently, though I could be mistaken.

It's interesting to see how WGU continues to expand its offering and provide affordable alternatives based on CBE.

Seeking Official Document Samples from UMPI Grads for Egypt Equivalency
Posted by: worldly face - 01-23-2026, 01:44 PM - Forum: UMPI - University of Maine at Presque Isle Discussion - Replies (2)

Hello everyone,

I am a prospective student based in Egypt, planning to enroll in the UMPI YourPace BABA Project Management & Information Systems degree. Before I begin, I must get a preliminary approval from the Egyptian Supreme Council of Universities.

To do this, I need to present a complete package of what the degree entails. I am reaching out to any alumni to kindly share examples of the official paperwork they got.

Could anyone provide redacted copies/scans of the following? (Please blur out all personal information: name, student ID, grades, signature, etc. I only need to see the document structure and content):

  1. The Official Program Curriculum / Degree Plan: The document from UMPI that lists every required course (with codes like BUS 350), their descriptions, and total credits.

  2. The Diploma (Degree Certificate) Sample: What the final diploma looks like (layout, seal, degree title, signatures).

  3. Transcript Sample: How the grades and credits are presented on an official transcript.

  4. Key Supporting Letters: Any official letters you received from UMPI that confirmed:
    • The university's NECHE accreditation status.
    • An explanation of the "YourPace" competency-based model and that it is a legitimate degree program from the public university.
    • The medium of instruction is English.

Thank you in advance. This will help me and others in similar situations proceed with confidence

  What to do next?
Posted by: DocstoutCo - 01-22-2026, 11:48 PM - Forum: Degree Planning Advice - Replies (1)

Your Location: VA, USA
Your Age: 35
What kind of degree do you want?: Bachelors. Eventually will pursue a masters, ideally a MSW.
Current Regional Accredited Credits: 85
Budget: As little as possible
Commitments: I have a full time job, but I can do a few hours of schoolwork a week during work hours, and I have no commitments outside of this.
Timeline: ASAP. Ideal would be before the end of Aug, 2026.

I have looked through the forum and have been lurking for a couple weeks now. I would prefer CBE because I have had success with that in the past, but I am also more than happy to take as many Sophia/etc credits somewhere and finish up that way. I have sent in applications to Excelsior and UMPI to see what classes they will transfer in.
My biggest concern is which credits may transfer, and what kind of classes they will leave me with. Since a majority of my credits are in human services/social work I am assuming a psych or general studies degree will be my best bet. I would love to be able to get started on some Sophia credits ASAP, but I’m not sure where to start with that.
I am feeling discouraged, because I expected to be done with school by now. I am looking for some reassurance, and guidance if anyone can tell me if I’ve got the right idea with this.

Advanced Accounting II Options for TESU?
Posted by: Brogan98 - 01-22-2026, 05:04 PM - Forum: CLEP, DSST, and TECEP Exam Discussion. Also Modern States and InstantCert. - Replies (1)

Hi All,

I'm currently working through TESU's BSBA Accounting/CPA degree, and I had a quick question - does anyone know of exam options for TESU's Advanced Accounting II (ACC-4020) course?

I've searched around a bit, but the closest I found was Study.com's Advanced Accounting II (Accounting 302), which does not seem like it would count (at least from the description.

I'm trying to avoid having to take this course directly through TESU (for cost and time reasons) in other words. Any help is appreciated!!

Help with Medical TECEP (active student hack)
Posted by: FungiTao - 01-21-2026, 06:31 AM - Forum: TESU - Thomas Edison State University Discussion - Replies (7)

Hi all,

Just went through the process of registering (and purchasing) the Medical Terminology TECEP for the sole reason of withdrawing (or "dropping", idk which!) and using it to extend my active student status.

I stupidly bought the February 2026 dated TECEP, so I think I have to wait till February now?

Could anyone give me the concrete steps in how I actually withdraw from a TECEP so that it updates my active student status? It's all a bit confusing with the interdependent areas of myEdison.

Thanks!

Pursue online bachelor degree don't know what direction to go in!
Posted by: sponce57 - 01-21-2026, 12:02 AM - Forum: Degree Planning Advice - Replies (2)

I am new to this website. I am seeking assistance or advise on what the best options are for me to pursuing a bachelor's degree in maybe business administration or healthcare. there are so many different options I feel lost.

I currently work in banking and my job will help pay for a business degree but I am unsure what direction i want to go in. in the banking world risk management is a hot topic and a very well paying job WITH A DEGREE same with AML. But how do i get there?

I did attend a technical school for Medical Assistance and have an Associate degree in applied science with a certification for medical assistance. I am also thinking of going in the medical direction as this is a good paying job at the end of it. however, I am not looking to be an RN something that possibly works in the office setting. Possibly healthcare admin or health information management.

It seems like I know what degrees I am looking for by mentioning my ideas but that's where I am stuck to say what if this is not the right choice or what if this is not what I want to do or how do I move once I obtain any of these degrees?

IF you are in any of these areas what are your thoughts on schooling to obtain a bachelors degree or certifications. I am looking for fully online schools with possible finical aid to pay for schooling because who can afford that in this world.

  SDC Membership downgrade

I'm trying to downgrade my College saver plan back to premium as I had it before and it will not let me do anything other than the 2 more expensive college plans.  Clearly trying to keep you spending more.  Any workaround tips besides cancelling and using a different account?

Thanks for any help!

Well I'm going to answer my own question. I cancelled my subscription and lo and behold, I was sent an email for me to sign up with all the options.

I've been trying to register to TECEPs but to no avail. I've managed to add them to my schedule, I also signed the student guideline policy thing, but I'm stuck and can't find the next step.

This is what my schedule page looks like: https://ibb.co/xt0Q4qzm

Is it normal for an instructor to not have a posttest graded after 4 days?
Posted by: futbolista89 - 01-17-2026, 12:27 PM - Forum: General "Big 3", B&M colleges, and other colleges - Replies (5)

Good morning, I took my first posttest on Tuesday at noon, for my Organizational Communication course, and haven't gotten a grade back. I know I can move forward and do more posttests, but I was really hoping to have one graded, so I can have a rough idea of what the instructor is looking for in the open-ended questions.

My Organizational Leadership instructor on the other hand has graded 4 of my posttests in the same timeframe. Is there something I'm missing or is this normal?
