Last minute - items needed for BOG application
Posted by: any4yeardegree - 10-03-2024, 08:01 PM - Forum: Associates Degrees Discussion - Replies (12)

Hello,

My daughter applied to Pierpont today - in the nick of time.  She received an email saying to submit transcripts to this email address:

   processing@pierpont.edu

When I applied, we sent our transcripts to Nancy Parks at the ESprocessing@pierpont.edu.  Do we no longer ESprocessing@pierpont.edu or do we need to submit transcripts to both:

processing@pierpont.edu and ESprocessing@pierpont.edu (from the Pierpont wiki page)?

According to this thread:  https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-...s-for-10-4   it appears Nancy Parks is no longer the contact person for the BOG.  Is someone else monitoring ESprocessing@pierpont.edu

Additionally, my daughter should be finishing her CIS-194 at ASU this weekend, we hope.  Do we need to notify someone at Pierpont or just send the transcript as soon as it's available?

Last, do we need to pay the $350 fee by Oct 4 or have the application submitted - which she's done.

Thank you!

I keep on getting an error for the birthdate. I've tried a few formats. How am I supposed to type it?

Nevermind, I asked ChatGPT.

Italian guy looking for US Bachelor Degree
Posted by: Zaknir - 10-03-2024, 05:41 AM - Forum: Degree Planning Advice - Replies (6)

Hi everyone,

As in the subject, I live in Italy (so I'm sorry for any error while writing in EN) and right now I'm looking for a US Bachelor Degree, as here in Italy I couldn't find a way to reasonably speed-up the time required for the degree.
Also, I have a GED and not a High School Diploma (long story).

Right now I'm a single full-time worker, so my schedule is mostly free.

These are the info I can provide:

Your Location: Italy (near Milan)
Your Age: 37
What kind of degree do you want?: Bachelor Degree in Computer Science (was looking for TESU)
Current Regional Accredited Credits: 0

Current ACE, CLEP, or NCCRS Credits: 0 (can't take CLEP in Italy)

Budget: Saved up around $5000 and can save up more during the year (let's say I can save up $10000)
Commitments: 2-3 hours in the evening of week and double that in weekends. Also, right now in my current job there's no much to do so I MIGHT even study up to 10 hours/day under right circumstances (but let's say 2-3 to be more realistic). So it's around 30 hours/week.
Timeline: I would like to complete this under 12 months.
Tuition assistance/reimbursement: None

$199 Hospitality & Tourism certificate from Florida Atlantic University
Posted by: CollegeStudentAC - 10-03-2024, 02:36 AM - Forum: Free Courses and Certificates and Good Deals - Replies (12)

Starts October 7. Seems self-paced. The university's other continuing education certificates are like over $1k.

The certificate looks nice and one photo shows a printed certificate so looks like you receive a print as well and not just digital: https://www.google.com/search?q=florida+...s-wiz-serp

I only have one semester of financial aid left. I have 6 schools that have various classes on all over 10 years old. Then after finish the degree in 3 sessions. I want to be a ux engineer or ux designer. I want to transfer in as close to 90 credits as I can. This is my plan:

Sophia Approaches to studying religion, Art history 1,Art history 2, Intro to Java programming, Intro to Python Intro to relational database, Lifespan development, Visual communications,Stats, College algebra, Human biology+lab, Environmental science, Spanish
Coursera Ux certification (3 credits),Google data analytics (9 credits), Google project management (9 credits), It support professional (12 credits), IBM Full Stack Software Developer Professional Certificate (18 credits) is there any other ux certification, graphic design, web design or web development certification they accept.

Heart email from WGU
Posted by: 875876 - 10-02-2024, 06:27 PM - Forum: WGU - Western Governors University Discussion - No Replies

I am in western North Carolina (where there was just a hurricane) and I received this email from WGU yesterday.  It has a list of resources, which really isn't very helpful, but it is really nice that they acknowledged what happened.  Interestingly, WGU and GoFundMe are the only two (non-local) businesses who have sent out an email like this, and I get a lot of emails from a lot of businesses.  Anywho, I just thought this was interesting and nice.

Newb advice: order of operations - Accumulate credits then enroll vs opposite?
Posted by: mbcummings - 10-02-2024, 01:07 PM - Forum: General "Big 3", B&M colleges, and other colleges - Replies (11)

I'm pretty well decided on either TESU or Excelsior.

Goal is fast track bachelors in liberal studies. I'd like a BS in psych but fastest track = best track and thus far lib studies looks faster. Maybe psych masters after.

Question: which will save more cost overall?:

  1. Enroll and admit in one of the above first, then start taking courses from study/sophia (3rd party ed. platforms) etc. to aggregate.
  2. Just start taking courses, then enroll and admit to transfer in/aggregate when all but "residency" required course/credits are completed.

Is this even a good or common question? (I've searched this forum of course, not to find answers.)
What is a better question and decision to make at this point, for how to save money (first) and time (second)?

FYI - personal context: old life-long student, non-combat vet with misc. college credits, a "diploma" from a private (and closed) trade school, and decades of professional experience in software design/IT. An ADHD diagnosis later in life explained a lot about my complex history with educational institutions generally. Trying to make the most of things is all.
