unused ACE credits
#1
I hold a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from India. I was getting 112 credits from ACE (36 courses) to get a BSBA-CIS from TESU (only capstone and cornerstone pending).

I then came across an Indian university offering an Online MBA (Project Management). I started the program and completed the first semester with 27 credits.

Can I get a degree at a lower cost by using ACE credits?

UMPI is the cheapest degree you can get at $1400 if you can do 10 courses in one term, which some have done.

If you want something similar to the CIS, you could get the BLS in Management Information Systems from UMPI.

Your question and you need to find an answer: You already have the degree, experience... why are we needing a second Bachelors?

There are so many options for you, I would finish the education from your online Masters in Project Management and stop for a while. You need to decide then if you need a second Bachelors or not, as the BSBA CIS or a BLS MIS is somewhat redundant to your BBA from India. Once done with your program, stop, wait for a while to fully decide what you need...

I would rather use the energy, money, time for either a graduate cert, diploma, or Masters degree later, from WGU or another Competency Based provider. Decide how you want to spend your energy, money, time... which future offering are you needing for personal or professional needs?

I appreciate your suggestion. I hope ACE credits will be valid for a longer period of time.

This won't apply to the OP. The OP's courses aren't going to give them 90 credits in a degree at UMPI. They need to first get their degrees evaluated through WES. If their degree is considered to be a bachelor's degree in the US then they're waived from the GEC. They still need to meet the remaining degree requirements. The ACE credits they've completed will not be enough to get to the 90 credits. They will need to select a degree. The BABA will take quite a bit more ACE credits to complete. The BLS would be the best option. This also depends on that WES evaluation.

Having a bachelor's and a master's I wouldn't waste the time or money on a second bachelor's degree. The only reason I see to complete a second bachelor's degree at this point would be if the OP were looking to move to another country and were concerned about whether or not their degrees would be considered valid in that country.

It depends on what your career goals are. If you want a tech-related career, a BBA and an MBA might not be sufficient to show that you have the right skills/knowledge. Having a degree with MIS or similar might be good.

But, you have some time to decide that. ACE credits ought to be good for a long while (they're supposed to be good forever, but this depends on school policies and whether or not ACE does anything else weird with the transcripts in the future).

Thank you.

For the last 20 years, I've been working in the software development industry. In light of your suggestions, I may consider BS - Software Development at WGU after I finish my MBA, for which I have 10 courses left.

That's the thing, with that much experience, I don't think going back for a Bachelors in anything would really help you since you're already in that field. Having said that, having a Masters in Software Development or something similar would be a better choice as some will only require "bridge" courses. If you do not have tuition assistance or reimbursement, then BS Software Development at WGU is a good choice.

However, if you have tuition assistance/reimbursement from work, you may want to spend a bit more and get reimbursed, try the MOOC's from either Coursera or EdX, other options in several states exist at about 10-12K for the entire program, you can spit that into two years and pay out of pocket about 2K.
