Will Penn Foster's General Studies Cert fulfill TESU's gen ed requirements?
#1
I want to sign up for Penn Foster's General Studies certificate. I was wondering what (if any) classes will fulfill TESU's general education requirements and which portion will they fill? I'm dead set on Penn Foster because I like the format. Please note that I am planning on taking Analyzing and Interpreting literature and I also have Alek's Trig and Algebra done. Thanks

All the classes are Ace accredited so I'm also wondering if I will recieve the full credit for each course when I transfer to TESU. For example, if Eng100 is worth 4 credits and Tesu's English Comp 1 is 4 credits will I actually be approved for 4?

"The American Council on Education’s College Credit Recommendation Service (ACE CREDIT) has evaluated and recommended college credit for all of the courses in Penn Foster College’s Undergraduate Certificate in General Studies program."

CSC104 Computer Applications
SCI120-Introduction to Biology
SSC130-Essentials of Psychology or SSC125-Introduction to Sociology
HUM102 - Art Appreciation
ENG100 English Composition

You are set on PF, but are you also set on TESU? If you get your AS degree through Penn Foster and want to get a business or similar bachelors, WGU will clear over 1/2 your degree requirements with an AS from Penn Foster. That's what my younger son is planning to do. The way they clear credits actually clears courses you didn't even take at Penn Foster - it's a pretty remarkable setup.
Here Researching for my son, who has done the following:
Community College: Intro to Philosophy, Fundamentals of IT, English Comp 1
Saylor: Intro to Business, Principles of  Marketing, Corporate Communication
Shmoop: US History 2 (WGU won't accept this)
ALEKS: Int. Algebra, College Algebra
Study.com: Personal Finance, Principles of Finance, HR Management, Global Business, Advanced Operations Management
Straighterline: US History 2, Environmental Science, US History, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, English Comp 2, Principles of Management, Business Law, Business Ethics, Psychology, Organizational Behavior, Accounting 1,Communication, Managerial Accounting, Statistics
Ed4Credit: Managing Information Systems
Sophia: Project Management
WGU: Bachelors in HR Management

Second son is currently attending Penn Foster for his high school diploma, then on to Ashworth for An Associates in Criminal Justice

So WGU will bring you in as a junior if you have an AS in business from Penn Foster? So I will have to do how many credits at WGU...? Thanks!

I'm curious about how WGU accepts credit but I'm pretty dead set on TESU as well because I want to major in Human Services. Just an associates for now. I looked at Editing Unofficial List of Course Equivalencies for Penn Foster & Thomas Edison State College (section) | Degree Forum Wiki | Fandom powered by Wikia which said that the general studies certificate classes only count for lower level humanities courses. I am confused about what that means. Does English 1 not clear English 1 at TESU even though it is ace accredited? It's not listed under humanities on TESU's page, it's listed under written communications. https://www.tesu.edu/academics/courses/2...After2.cfm

Here is the degree I am trying to complete using as many Penn Foster classes as possible. I will also be taking the Analyzing and Interpreting LIT Clep exam.

WGU clears all gen ed credits and some major course credits with an AS - and they have an articulation agreement with Penn Foster so it's guaranteed. You end up going in with about 65 of the 120 credits just with the AS in Business. If you are wanting a human services degree, though, WGU won't work. You might want to look into whether a business degree might serve you just as well for your career goals, though - because human services related fields are often looking for folks with business knowledge.

Associate in Arts in Human Services

You will need 6 credits in writing, so Eng Comp I and II BTW. You may be able to use another in place of II such as Adv. Tech Writing, Business Communications or the like.

Intro to Bio would probably satisfy natural world requirement. Essentials of Pych would probably satisfy knowledge of human cultures. Intro to Soc. would probably satisfy knowledge of human cultures or diversity. Art Appreciation would probably satisfy knowledge of human cultures. Computer Applications might work for natural world requirement. The courses would fall into different slots depending on degree selected.

TESU will not accept anything except English Comp II - they will take it from other places, but not other types of courses.

CSC104 Computer Applications - Probably Natural World (Science)
SCI120-Introduction to Biology Natural World (Science)
SSC130-Essentials of Psychology Knowledge of Human Cultures or SSC125-Introduction to Sociology Info Literacy Requirement or Knowledge of Human Cultures
HUM102 - Art Appreciation Knowledge of Human Cultures

Computer Apps is the only one I don't know, it would usually come in as a Computer Science/Nat Science course with a CIS- or COS- prefix; but if for some reason they put it as a CAP-prefix course, then it wouldn't work there, and would come in as a Free Elective.

A&I Lit will come in as Info Lit Requirement or Knowledge of Human Cultures.
