When will this ALEKS test complete
#1
Hi,

I'm taking the intermediate Algebra exam to brush up on my math. I received a 62% on the initial test, have taken the progress exam and now at 79%. I thought 70% was passing. Do I have to get 100% or how do you complete the course? I thought it would have some time of completion page once reaching 70%.

Please help.

Thanks!!!!

I made this same stupid mistake.

It never "completes".

Once you've achieved over 70%, you are done. Login to ACE and request the course transcript from ALEKS and it'll show up a day or two later on your ACE transcript.

Oh.. I just noticed you said "Intro to Algebra" -- I don't remember for sure, but I don't think that's a credit-granting course, so forget the ACE bit in my previous post. Just know that ALEKS is never "done". It's up to your "teacher" to decide when you're done, by looking at your assessment score.

For the credit granting courses, that teacher is a computer, and all it requires is that you get over 70%. If you were home schooling or taking the course for some other reason, then it's up to your teacher in that environment to decide when you're done. If you're doing it for self enrichment, then it's up to you.

Hello,
First assessment is to gauge your knowledge.
You then have to do the work over 70% of the pie.

You are not done until you do a final assessment at which it will gauge your knowledge.
If that final assessment reaches 70% or higher, you're done.
From your info above, you just need to login to the Master account to request an assessment.

Cheers, hope that helps.

I'm not sure what the progress exam is...been away from Aleks for quite awhile. I wouldn't change anything just yet until you are sure if that was an actual assessment or just some sort of program generated quiz. If it was an actual assessment, you are done. You log in to your ACE account and add the course for approval.

Edit to add:
Just checked, I think what you need take is the comprehensive assessment. Looks like the progress assessment is just a quiz on what you've learned in a particular area. I would simply confirm which exam you just passed and then move forward accordingly.

Thanks for the comments. Do I have to take a final assessment? I don't recall reading anything about that. Here's a screenshot of my last assessment exam at 79%: ALEKS_Results - RichLeo's library

After this last progress assessment, which I got 79% on, the Pie is at 79% completed. I don't see an option for a final assessment, just more topics to complete.

You should be good to request the course be added to your ACE transcript now. Looks like you did get a 79% on an actual assessment. Wink

ALEKS gives you an initial assessment (usually 20-30 questions), and the score is your BLUE line. Then, as you work through the pie, it gives periodic quizzes (usually 10 questions). The quizzes plus any work you do is your GREEN line score. Your GREEN line score is added to the BLUE line score to give a total score in the course. If you are at 79% in the course (BLUE + GREEN), then you can go into the master account and schedule another assessment (20-30 questions) for the student. If you score 70% or more on that assessment, then you are done with the course. You can request credit through your ACE account at that time. But you have to score 70% or more on the BLUE assessment score - the combined BLUE and GREEN scores don't count for credit.

Contrary to a couple of answers on here:

You definitely CAN complete the course. I took both Beginning Algebra and Intermediate Algebra to 100% (combined BLUE and GREEN) and then scored 100% on my assessments. The course said "Congratulations, you've completed XXX" or something to that effect. I was then prompted in the Master Account to switch over to the next level course.

Intermediate Algebra DOES count for credit on ACE, as does Beginning Algebra. TESU won't accept Beginning Algebra though, for credit; they will accept Int. Algebra. But I think COSC will take Beginning Algebra (not entirely sure of that). But it never hurts to put anything ACE-approved on your ACE transcript. TESU used to accept Beginning Algebra, and it was on my TESC transcript back in 2012. Then, I let my enrollment lapse, and when I re-applied, it was not on there because they stopped accepting it. But if I would have kept my enrollment going, it would still be on there as a GenEd course. So any time you do something ACE-approved, put it on your ACE transcript, even if you don't think you'll need it. It certainly can't hurt! And you never know what the next school will/won't accept.

The screenshot shows you are done. Don't touch the account.
Log into ACE and request the course. In a few hours to a day or two.
You will have it in your ACE Credit Registry.
You can then go for another course such as College Algebra.
