WARNING: Here's to your health exam
#11
I am new to the forum and would like to understand some of the terms. What is REA, ECE?

Are there any other suggested guides for math Cleps. College Math has one but not Algebra.

Thanks in advance for your help.

I still believe IC is a valuable component of my exam prep - even with the new Dantes tests out there. In fact, I'm putting my $$ where my mouth is and preparing right now for the Dantes Astrology and Intro to Computing using IC as a resource.

However, having said that, I have never taken a test using IC as my only source of info. I always use something else too, be it, REA, Comex (my favorite), college textbook, or whatever my local library happens to have. I think that Shoto gives great advice in his signature line and it has never let me down.

I look at the "total picture" of my IC membership. These threads are as much help as the actual flashcards sometimes. It's unfortunate that many tests are currently changing at the same time.

For myself, I always use multiple study materials; so I'm not trapped if the flashcards are off for one test. Just my 2 cents

I took this test last weekend without studying, finished the test in about a half hour and passed! I was worried after reading the posts here, but I have to say that I found the test VERY easy. And yes, it was the new version. Maybe I got lucky and got mostly easy questions??

I also took the new version of this test very recently with zero preparation and passed with a 433 in 24 minutes. Not a difficult exam at all in my opinion, but as always...YMMV

Hi,
I spent about 5 days preparing...2 hours a day and did intensive studying the weekend before my exam on Monday, 2/9/09. Only used IC, but did look up stuff on the internet if I didn't understand the questions on the flashcards. Out of the 95 questions, I marked about 30 questions but like to think I took "educated" guesses because I passed with a 443.

I only have one more exam to take, either Astrology or Environment & Humanity: Race to Save the Planet. Does anyone have suggestions as to which one I should start studying for?

Thanks!

My friend and I took this exam last week but unfortunately I did we pass. Oddly enough we both made a 396 and 400 was needed to pass and we were on opposite sides of the room, which proved that we had some knowledge of the material but not enough to pass. What was very frustrating and disturbing to me was the study guide we had purchased was outdated and we didn't know it. We purchased the study material in October and the guide was updated in November, so we spent all that time studying from the wrong material. Needless to say we were extremely upset when the person facilitating the exam told us about the change in the study material after we had failed the test. So there's $80 down the drain. What is even more frustrating is we can't take the test again for another 6 months and we are both slated to graduate this coming July. I will say that the information we purchased was from the actual DSST website and not this one, but I wanted let as many people know that I could the importance of ensuring the study material purchased is current so this will not happen to anyone else.

I thought that you could download the guides free.... Has that changed too?
Or is the download the old version???

I am currently studying for the HTYH exam using the IC flashcards. I am in the Healthcare field so most of this information is not intimidating to me.

I have searched for feedback on if anyone used the practice exam to gauge how well they were doing while studying for this one. I was thinking of using it to see where I am so far. I know it's only 5 bucks but I am wondering if its worth it.... any feedback?

I can't say I'm the best test-taker in the world.......but this test seemed very tough for me. I was hoping common sense would play a part in answering......but it didn't. Unfortunity, I made a 399.........and a 400 is passing. As you can understand..............I'm very upset, but I can not blame IC. About 75-80% of the questions on the test where in the IC flashcards. I think I was unfortinate because of the random questions. Only about 10 questions were simple. The rest of the questions seemed tough and hard to decide between 2 or 3 different choices. I felt like I had the flashcards down.......but the multiple choice seem to make it more difficult???

I actually think earning my credits the old-fashion way is probably the best way for me. Good luck to everyone testing. I may try again in 6 months (after the rest of my class graduates). Sad
