Just in case any of you are thinking of attending a DEAC-accredited school, I just wanted to let you know that a member of Degreeinfo.com, and starter of a DEAC-accredited school, is suing DEAC. There are multiple threads there if you want to read the details. This lawsuit could turn out to be nothing, or it could turn out to be something that could make DEAC go under either from debt or losing recognition from the U.S. Department of Education. But, if they go the way of ACICS, schools will likely be given time to seek accreditation elsewhere.
Hypothetically, if DEAC loses recognition, there aren't many options for their schools. They would either have to go through the tougher process of becoming accredited by a regional accreditor or the abhorrent ACCSC. The other national accreditors are for specialized schools, such as ATS for religious schools.

Yes, I was reading that. It's something I would contemplate but then think not much of it later. There are other options as well, such as...
Suggestion for those who are in a DEAC school, you may want to see what transfer options there are for RA schools that accept NA credits.
Don't fret, be calm and find your options if something does happen, but continue on "business as usual" err, school as usual and get "IT" done.

That's unfortunate for University of the People. I mean because it seems like they were doing good things with their partnership with UC Berkeley and NYU. Also unfortunate for those who may have screwed over....

There's nothing to be worried about, Distance Education Accrediting Commission (DEAC) is just a National Accreditation agency.
Basically there are a few distance schools that have been mentioned a few times, they're all accredited by them.
The well known ones for example are Ashworth, Penn Foster (due to the fact, some courses are ACE recommended for credit), etc.

DEAC has had better reports during their renewals than some of the regionals. Since the problems ACICS has went through, I suspect DEAC is being especially careful. A lot of the accreditation BS is meaningless and annoying but the college in question certainly has the option to obtain accreditation elsewhere but I'm guessing that if they can't impress DEAC, they can't impress anyone. Note that DEAC is not in the business of refusing accreditation. They are much better off approving accreditation, if in their opinion it is possible.

If Dr. Lady's multiple posts on the other forum weren't already weird, things have just gotten weirder.

I'm not an expert in the court system or law, but I don't think acting like this on social media is going to help his case. Most people on the other forum have a few screws loose, so I'm not surprised.

I need Cliff's Notes to give me a summary of this whole saga. I don't care enough to look into it much, but everything I've seen has been so bizarre.
