I am back at UMPI! My appeal was approved! Apparently I was actually approved last week but the email was sent to my maine.edu email which I didn't have access too. I followed up and she cc'd me on the original email. I'm on academic probation to bring my GPA up in the fall. I did have a question. I noticed with BLS, you have to pick a minor, usually of 4 options. Project Management, Management, Management Information Systems or I believe early child Ed? I asked Jessica could I add Business Administration to Management as a dual minor and was advised yes. I'm curious if I can just have Business Admin ad my BLS Minor and nothing else? Imma ask tomorrow but was wondering if anyone had any luck? I thought of it because I'd only need 2 classes of the 6 to complete. The other 4 I transfered in already. Just curious. Anyway, I'm so excited! I guess with the probation I should probably take my easiest classes first to build my GPA back up. Things like Art 108, Geo 100, Bus 330, etc.

Congrats, that's a start, bump your GPA first. Yes, there are 5 minors, accounting, education, MIS, management, project management, that's advertised on the Your Pace webpage. Little is known about others, but technically ANY minor they offer from the butt-in-seat option is available as long as you have all the courses required for them available in Your Pace and also transferable elsewhere.
You can have the BLS Management, and add the Project Management or MIS, or both if you wanted. However, if you're going for BABA, the management minor and the business admin minor may be fulfilled already. I would add the MIS or Project Management instead for that degree. Keep your options open, but just finish the BLS Management first, don't jump all over the place. Good luck, have fun!

Just wondering if I can drop the management minor and pick up the Bus Admin minor instead. Swapping them. The management minor I need 4 more courses, business administration, only 2. That would save me two classes. Looks like I'll only need Mat 140 and Bus 125. Vs if I took management minor I'd need Bus 240, Bus 260, Bus 321 and Bus 415.
Am I making any sense? I might be talking in circles it's late lol

LOL, I know exactly what you mean, yes, that makes perfect sense... just that the Business Administration minor won't have enough Upper Level credits as they can be fulfilled by all lower level requirements. That means, you can do the minor, but you'll have to have upper level from other courses, if that's the case, you're better off having two minors or more. @learningthehardway, You can always email the advisor to find out, but most likely it won't be approved to swap the Management minor for the Business Admin minor, you can add the BA minor though, they'll give you a 'reason' similar to what is in the following link: https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-...#pid394552

Yeah, I am about to send an email this morning. I am sure you are right though. It is kind of like the BAS. I recall it being people who were able to get it, as long as you had the AAS, they were good, but then I was told I need 40 technical credits, and my best route to degree completion was the BLS program. I will reach out about the BA Minor because in my head, it makes sense. A minor is a section of coursework that equals 18 credits with x amount of coursework being upper credits, but then why list BA as a Minor if it doesn't meet the minor requirements? That sucks lol.
I did create a spreadsheet highlighting what classes I need to take with UMPI, what I need to take at Sophia and what I need to finish with Google Certs, so that's a plus. Working on Certs now, then will jump over to Sophia, transfer it all in for the fall, and take my 10 classes with UMPI.
I am curious, the wording on my probation states I can only take 12 classes for the fall term. So If I was to finish say 2 classes, ask Jessica to give me another 2 and finish those in term 1, would I be stuck taking no more classes in fall term 2? or am I stuck taking 2 first fall term and 2-second fall term for a total of 12 credits and can't take any more? That would really suck because that would mean no acceleration for the semester and I would have to take the other 6 classes in Spring terms.

The UMPI Business Administration minor requires PCJ 215 - Business Communication, I don't see that listed as a YourPace course? Maybe someone can confirm this (it is not part of the YourPace BABA requirements. The rest of the minor can be completed through YourPace courses - as they are part of the YourPace BABA). Is this something you can transfer in from Sophia or Study? Maybe I'm just missing something from the YourPace options.
I'll add that I think the 'Management & Leadership' is a better choice that Business Admin for a minor. Management & Leadership reads more tangible (easily understood), Business Admin is very broad (and rather vague to many), but this is my opinion. You need to boost your GPA and need to complete at least 10 UMPI courses so I'm not sure why you would want to make such a change at this point. I don't see the value added.
Also, of the courses required to complete (and pass) don't those include those courses you failed? Needing to replace those grades (F with A/Bs), or have you already factored that?
Finally - Yay! I'm glad to hear that you're back on target to getting your UMPI degree

You should ask, but that sounds like a limitation that would only make sense for someone on campus who had to register for all their courses up front. I can't see any logic to making someone who has finished 12 units stop and wait for the next term before starting another course.
