So it's the end of September, any words on when this UMPI CS degree will start taking in students? I have completed all the Sophia courses and holding back on registering with TESU BACS just so I can sign up for this degree. Should I wait until early next year to find out? Not in urgent need for the degree but wouldn't want to drag too long either.

If I were you, I would get the TESU degree and be done with it. There's no guarantee if/when UMPI will do a YourPace CS degree.

UMPI has NEVER made a pubic announcement that they will offer any type of CS/IT degree. They only began their on campus CS degree in January. They have 1 full time on campus professor for this program so far. They would need CS and math professors to add this to YourPace based on the on campus degree. They do not have any of the required math courses available on YourPace. I do not see this degree becoming a YourPace degree anytime soon as the president of the university has said the demand isn't there. They need far more people to request it for it to be added to YourPace.

I emailed UMPI's Assistant Director of YourPace Operations as well as the Dean of Competency-Based Education and Degree Completion less than a month ago. The Dean did not reply, but the Asst. Director was not aware of any plans for a YourPace CS program. I agree with ss20ts, I wouldn't hold my breath that we see this in the near future.

UMPI is already taking in students for their CS program. But, at this time CS is exclusively offered for on campus students.
As others said, if you are interested in doing CS degree via YourPace, it is not happening anytime soon. You can do on-campus degree if you wish. They accept credits from ACE providers regardless of on-campus/online/YourPace status.

Thanks guys for the advice, guess I'll need to bite the bullet on TESU and get this thing going, the low cost and ability to complete required courses at UMPI is what attracted me to this program. Anyway, I just saw there is a new path to TESU degree doing a 16-credit term and avoid paying the residential waiver in the process, this may be a cost saver too.

For Comp Sci, a 16-credit-term is particularly attractive. By taking the relatively easy UL Software Engineering course, you get to avoid the terribly difficult Network Technology TECEP. This does save both time and money for most students when compared to not taking the 16-credit-term.

I don't see plans for UMPI to add it to YourPace, like was planned on the board of trustees. I think they decided to focus on in-school only.
If you're interested in an online degree with CS from YourPace, tell them. Already decided on another school but would've done UMPI if they had it? tell them.

I received this followup email from the Dean of Competency-Based Education and Degree Completion (Dr. Susan Chang) on Monday morning. The document she's referring to is the "Academic & Student Affairs Committee Meeting - Agenda" shared by ashkir in the original post in this thread, which I shared with her. That doc specifies a YourPace component, so the reply is a little confusing, but at least a YourPace CS program is still being developed. But it certainly reinforces the suspicion that this is not something we'll see in the near future, but a long-term plan.

Dear [jsd],
I hope that all is well with you!
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Upon review of the documents and sources, my understanding is that the Board of Trustees approved a "traditional" on-the-ground program for Computer Science. We are, however, in the process of working with our faculty to develop a Computer Science YourPace program.
Sincerely,
-Susan
