Hello All,
I have 80 or so credits from different institutions. I don't particularly care for taking credits outside of UMPI, thus let me get to my question. What are the exams like at UMPI, are they mostly multiple choice and proctored ? or are they Essays?

Essay based, from what I have gathered. Exams are non-proctored and open book; however, I have read that it is rare to be given an exam.

Could you share more information about the specific details regarding the arrangement of closed book non-proctored exams?

They are timed multiple-choice exams. You are not permitted to use any outside materials.
There are only a handful of courses that are exam based.
I have only taken one so far. It was very straightforward. if you know the material presented in the quizzes you know what you need to know to do well on the test.

You're incorrect!
Exams are multiple choice. They are not proctored. They are NOT open book. Open book would be considered cheating. Less than 25% of the courses at UMPI offer an exam. They're only in a few of the GEC courses and business courses.
