UExcel exam

Hello - I am scheduled to take the UExcel College Writing exam (ENG110) in a couple of weeks. It is my understanding that this now fulfills the English Comp credit at Excelsior. I would like to get some feedback on this exam, but don't see anything specific about it in the forums. Has anyone taken this yet? Is it truly just essay questions, or are there other questions in it about sentence structure, grammar, etc.? Thanks for any help!

Thanks - I found your other feedback post. Very helpful. One other question -do you know a good source for research on the "Modern Language Association (MLA) style of citation" that is required for the exam? I have a book on MLA but it has so much info in it. I think I need something more succint and specific. What exactly does this mean? Thanks!

Cornell's page on MLA

You only have to know the proper way of citing the work inside the essay, you don't actually have to do a works cited page. So, basically (Name Page). Or if you use the persons name in the sentence just (page).

For mine, I just used the article number since the articles were single page. (A4). Or (C5).

Writing is not my forte so I'm extremely nervous and would just feel so much better to hear from someone who has taken this exam recently. I did pay the $30 to have access to the practice software but....I have trouble even composing a thank you note let alone 2 essays in 2 hours, so any help you can give me would be so appreciated! You're right; this has not been a popular exam, but here is an excellent thread about it:

Since the English requirement has changed at Excelsior to 6 credits, I think other options like Straighterline and the Excelsior College Exam (ECE - worth 6 credits) will be more popular methods. I don't know what that will mean for this UExcel exam for EC students.
