Hi all,
I am a newbie here and have a question??? I'm scheduled to take the CLEP:Analyzing and Intrepreting Literature on tues. in San Diego. I live in Hawaii and have to fly to take it. So, of course, I am starting to get nervous about being ready... Been studying the CLEP guides - My question is: Are the CLEP exams just like the study guides? I mean down to the questions? I'm hoping I won't be too surprised and overwhelmed. Just want to know what to expect since this is my first... Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks.

I would like to know the answer to this question, also. I have seen a lot of military credits being used, but I can't tell how many are actually being counted toward the degrees. At EC, do they all count as Applied Professional (free elective) or do some count as Arts & Sciences? Thanks for your help!

I can't help you with the military credits, simply because I do not know how TESC or EC classifies them. You really should simply pay for an evaluation. I WOULD NOT pay for 2 evals (TESC/EC) because everything you need to know will be answered by the first eval. *Once they are put into "college-speak" anyone here (including yourself) can see how they plug in to any degree plan. I would request a degree eval for journalism first- and then after you get it, print it out and then immediately ask them to change your eval for liberal arts. They will grumble, but they will do it (once) for you. Then, you'll have both evals to look at. It will be a big difference if TESC lists journalism courses as general education vs non-general education.
Something to consider is that it's not always how many credits you GET TO USE, but rather the path necessary to complete the credits outstanding. For example, if you need a course but can't find a college to allow you to take it- that's a pain. Remember that neither TESC or EC offers all of the courses you need for the degree- so you'll probably have to find these on your own. Sometimes easy-sometimes not. Additionally, you'll need to look at costs. But again, all of this can only be done once you have all the facts. There are a lot of "if-then" scenarios anyone here can help you plan out once you get that evaluation done. Oh, and before I forget, in TESC's liberal arts degree there are a number of upper level credits required. In their journalism degree, this is not the case. In the journalism degree you must take certain courses with any number, not courses with certain numbers. A significant distinction. |
