I'd like to take several Saylor courses for NCCRS credits. However, I'm not sure if TESC will accept them. May I know if anyone has taken these courses and successfully transferred credits to TESC? If yes, what TESC courses were the Saylor courses equivalent to?
I plan to substitute several UExcel exams with the following Saylor courses... (Most of them are Free Electives, so the equivalencies doesn't really matter. However, I will need an equivalent Saylor course for TWO of the UExcels, as mentioned below.)
BUS203: Principles of Marketing UExcel Principles of Marketing
BUS208: Principles of Management UExcel Principles of Management
BUS210: Corporate Communication UExcel Workplace Communication with Computers
CS101: Introduction to Computer Science I UExcel Human Resource Management
POLSC201: Introduction to Western Political Thought UExcel Managerial Accounting
BUS205: Business Law and Ethics UExcel Ethics: Theory and Practice
1) I heard that TESC Managerial Communications is compulsory. Will Corporate Communication (CC) meet TESC Managerial Communications requirement? (I.e. Is CC equivalent to UExcel Workplace Communication?) Has anyone substituted it successfully?
2) Does Business Law and Ethics fulfill the General Education ETHICS requirement in a TESC BA degree?
Thank you very much for your help.

I took Saylor's business communication and principles of marketing to fulfill TESC's business communication and core business requirement for marketing. Penn foster and straighterline offer better and more conscience study materials than Saylors lengthy and inconsistent ones. But you can't beat Saylor's price.

Yeah, Saylor's price is so close to ALEKS! Have you transferred the credits to TESC? Is the percentage reported on both the Saylor and TESC transcripts?

I have transferred the Saylor courses listed in my signature to TESC and I had a copy of the transcript sent to me and a copy sent to TESC. The one I received listed the percentages so I would assume the one to TESC did also. Once it's added to the TESC evaluation it is listed as below. (This is for corporate communicaitons)

I've just received an email from admissions saying that credits can't be transferred from Saylor courses, that a TECEP or PLA has to be completed after taking a Saylor course. May I know who should I refer to regarding this matter? Did anyone have any problem transferring in these Saylor credits?

I don't know how exactly the response you got from admissions was worded, but if it goes along the line of a response I also got from advising which reads: Quote:There is no direct credit for the Saylor’s course BUS-203 Principles of Marketing. This course prepares you to take the Saylor's NCCRS or CLEP exam which will fulfill the requirement.
then I guess they are saying that you cannot get credit from any Saylor course simply by taking the course. To get credit, such course has to be NCCRS approved/accredited and also you have to take a proctored exam which reports your final grade on the test.
For example, after completing the Saylor's Principle of Marketing, I sat the final proctored test conducted by ProctorU, and I requested a transcript from Saylor to be sent to TESC. It took TESC about 20 business days to update my evaluation with the new Saylor credit.

Also, I'll like to add that, when it comes to credits and their acceptability, I think Advising is the right department to contact, not Admissions...

I'm not sure which course you asked them about, but the courses listed on this page National College Credit Recommendation Service (NCCRS) « Saylor Academy are all NCCRS approved, which means to get credit you take the final exam either through ProctorU or through your own proctor. After passing the proctored final exam, it's added to your transcript and you can request that it be sent to TESC. No additional test needed. Some of Saylor's courses are courses that can help you prepare to take a CLEP, a TECEP, a UEXCEL, etc which might have been what they were referring to.
