It takes a few weeks after you've been accepted. You can check for your transcripts being processed in your MaineStreet account.

Hi Everyone! @ss20ts and @bjcheung77 too - Hello!
I'm posting back now, about UMPI and need some help with some recommendations on course selection. My UMPI incoming transcript has just now been evaluated, and I need help determining which classes to take for my UMPI YourPace Business Administration Degree. I'm looking for fast for this degree, as my goal is the WGU MBA immediately after. Can you please let me know if Sophia / and easiest equivalent there, or other S credit places, and name of class. I'm a little aggravated, that some courses weren't given credit in certain areas at UMPI, and others that were completed at a higher level course, I still have to take the lower level course below it. (Example: ENG 101 need to take, but ENG 102 was completed) and that's because my former college had us take pre-assessments to see which class level is right for you. But alas, I must move forward and just work on what I can control. Thanks for letting me vent! UMPI STANDINGS: 44 Credits transferred in, 76 needed. 23 Credits of the required 30 General Electives taken, 7 Credits needed. These Areas are Not Satisfied: ENG 101 BUS 101 Intro to Business MAT 140 Math for Business (Please, need the easiest course possible! I had a tutuor to get an A in Calculus in HS, and then took Interemediate Algebra, grade C at community college, and it doesn't satisfy this.) I struggle here! (tears) ECO 207 Macro & Micro Economics (Question: I remember you all said to do Micro-Sophia; Macro-Sophia) there is not a Combo Course anywhere? Sophia still the best choice for this? PHI 152 Intro to Ethics BUS 200 Intermediate Business Computing HTY World Civilation II ((My Modern Americian Civilation did not satisfy this, even though it was very comprehensive)) ENV 110 Intro to Environmental Science BUS 220 Managerial Accounting (OMG I want to pass out now) BUS 244 Management Information System ENG 151 Intro to Literature BUS 240 Change Management BIO 105 Quantitative & Scientific Reasoning BUS 330 Marketing Management BUS 353 Legal & Ethical Environment of Business BUS 260 Leadership BUS 321 HR Management BUS 325 Financial Management POS 101 Introduction to Political Thought or American Government BUS 440 Business Analytics BUS 415 Operations Management HUM 103 Creative Decision Making or ENG 211 Creative Writing BUS 335 Organizational Behavior BUS 469 Strategic Professional Communication BUS 489 Business Policy & Strategy Plus 7 General Electrive Credits Sometimes I look at this list, and want to faint. Other times I look at it, and then it's not that bad. Is it bad? So I don't know if you all remember, but I'm putting my business on hold to do this. I had a few last minute returning clients that past couple weeks, so I have not started anything yet. Knowing that I'm turning this into my FT job, how quickly do you think someone who focuses 5 to 6 days a week can get this done? Thank you so much for all the guidance - I appreciate your insight! Dolce

So I would take this at UMPI. MAT140 is one of the easiest math courses that there is. Take this at UMPI or you're stuck with Calculus on Sophia which it doesn't sound like you want. That's ok! Plenty of us aren't great at math. Take Macro and Micro Econ Sophia. Together they transfer in for ECO207 and 3 credits in general electives - well they did for me. PHI152 Take Introduction to Ethics on Sophia BUS 200 Intermediate Business Computing - UMPI HTY World Civilation II ((My Modern Americian Civilation did not satisfy this, even though it was very comprehensive)) - Take US History 1 or 2 on Sophia ENV 110 Intro to Environmental Science - Take on Sophia BUS 220 Managerial Accounting (OMG I want to pass out now) - UMPI BUS 244 Management Information System - UMPI ENG 151 Intro to Literature - Take Art History 1 or 2 on Sophia for this BUS 240 Change Management - UMPI BIO 105 Quantitative & Scientific Reasoning - Take Human Biology AND the lab on Sophia BUS 330 Marketing Management - UMPI BUS 353 Legal & Ethical Environment of Business - UMPI BUS 260 Leadership - UMPI BUS 321 HR Management - UMPI BUS 325 Financial Management - UMPI POS 101 Introduction to Political Thought or American Government - Take US Government on Sophia BUS 440 Business Analytics - UMPI BUS 415 Operations Management - UMPI HUM 103 Creative Decision Making or ENG 211 Creative Writing - UMPI You also have the option of ART108 at UMPI. BUS 335 Organizational Behavior - UMPI BUS 469 Strategic Professional Communication - UMPI BUS 489 Business Policy & Strategy - UMPI Plus 7 General Elective Credits - Take a couples fo courses that are short and you find interesting on Sophia. Visual Communications is short and easy. Yes this will put you over 90 credits and that is ok. You need to complete these GEC courses. Sophia is MUCH easier for most of them. American Government is an easy course at UMPI so it's up to you on where you take that one. You do NOT want to take ANY science or foreign language courses at UMPI. Save your sanity! Hope this helps! Feel free to PM me if you have any questions. I'm happy to help you. Good luck!!

@DolceDolce, We're here for you... I'm just laughing at the situation and getting a chuckle out of it... Don't let the unknown scare you, be open to accepting what needs to be done and start working towards that goal systematically. You're pretty close, yet so far from the finish line. I suggest you do exactly like what ss20ts mentioned. You need to get the Sophia.org classes done first and delay your start date at UMPI if you're starting this next session in a few weeks... Basically, Sophia.org first to get the gen eds requirements completed, and then your final courses would be from UMPI (the major, remaining classes). Don't rush yourself, you're going back to work, I would guess in two-three sessions you'll be complete!

Okay, how do I let UMPI know to put me in the August 23 term? For that term, and to give them time to evaluate my incoming courses, would that provide me the opportunity to complete one Sophia course every 3 days or is that too slow a schedule? And that's how I feel, so close and yet so far.... (06-19-2023, 11:04 AM)ss20ts Wrote:(06-19-2023, 10:03 AM)DolceDolce Wrote: UMPI STANDINGS: Okay thank you so much! I'm going to transfer this to Excel, review, and start Sophia! For the Sophia classes, what would be a pace that is on target to be able to transfer in to UMPI before the August 23 term? One class every 3 days? Also, I have a 2022 University of AZ Digital Marketing Certificate, that I'd like to have considered for the Business Marketing requirement. Do you know how I submit that to UMPI? I will post back in a couple days that I'm under control over here, and have started Sophia. If I run into trouble between now and then (50/50 chance) look out for another post from me. (06-13-2023, 09:04 AM)Jaywhy Wrote: How long does it normally take to get your transfer credit report? I was accepted to UMPI on June 7th (via e-mail) and my transfer credit report posted this morning, June 19th. I had only one transfer school to send in, and I requeste that transcript through Parchment on the day I applied. Some other UMPI applicants posted that the main facilitator of these transcripts was on vacation last week.

Just email your academic advisor (I'm going to guess it's Jessica) and ask them to move your start date to Fall Session 1. That's all you need to do. Make sure to follow up if you don't get a response within a few days. I know she's been swamped and she's still the only advisor it seems.
With regards to your Digital Marketing Certificate, send a copy of your transcripts from the University of Arizona to UMPI. I would set strict standards on how quickly to move through a course on Sophia. Each course will take a different length of time. You can work on 2 classes at a time on Sophia. When I was doing Sophia, I would write up weekly goals for myself. If I met them early and had time available, I would add to them. College Algebra took me 3 weeks. I've seen on here others do it in 3 days. I have no idea how, but math is not my thing. I also wanted to maintain my grades on Sophia to be roughly the same as I would receive in a college setting. I know 70 is passing, but some schools do require a higher score for transfer credit (UMPI doesn't). Don't stress! You've got this!

Same here, I need to maintain a high Sophia Score, due to the fact that I will be required to have a 3.0 for the WGU MBA program, and I'm coming in with a low GPA to overturn due to the prior 44 credits GPA. My Digital Marketing Certificate is through a provider of University of AZ courses - partnership program, but it's a University of AZ certifcate. Greenfig - University of AZ Certified Digital Marketing I will send it to Jessica with a note that I'd like for it to be assessed. I have read to keep 2 courses going, one with assessments, and one with touchstones, so that you aren't hung up on touchstones waiting to be graded at Sophia. Okay, I see that I should wait and take English at UMPI. So I'll start with Math and get that out of the way! Thanks x10!

It's quite a pricy certificate. It doesn't look ACE approved so it will be interesting to see if it's accepted for any credit. Seems like every school today has some ecertificates and they aren't worth the paper they're printed on unfortunately. I've seen programs like this for $8K and I'm like wow what a way to rob from people. |
