Enrollment and transfer evaluation process

Hello all. Originally I was planning on attending WGU and am currently taking classes through Sophia to rack up credits. I’m now considering UMPI BLS program because it looks like you can transfer in a lot more credits and it’s more flexible. With WGU it was pretty straightforward what classes to take at Sophia and then send transcripts and enroll. My question with UMPI is, is it best to finish all the Sophia classes first and then apply to UMPI, or apply first and then send transcripts once finished with Sophia courses? I’ve just heard stories that UMPI sometimes isn’t the best at responding and it can take a while to enroll. I guess I don’t want to be in a situation where I’ve completed all my Sophia courses, then I apply and end up sitting around waiting for months on UMPI. I’d rather preemptively apply so I’m ready to go if that makes sense. Any tips or advice would be appreciated. Thank you!

You can transfer credits in after starting YourPace. I’m doing it myself. Also, my transfer evaluation took exactly 1 month, and that was in August, to give you an idea of wait time and time of year.

Sounds good thanks for the answer. Do you remember how long the application and admissions took? I applied last Tuesday and haven't really heard back other than a couple automated emails saying to send college transcripts. How are you liking UMPI so far?

I applied 7/11, I received the acceptance letter 7/23. I sent my transcripts 7/17 and received the transfer evaluation 8/21. I am loving UMPI! I start October 28th, but love the communication and attention my advisor has given me while I prepare. I have also dealt with the transfers department, submitting an appeal, and financial services, setting up a payment plan, and both were wonderful!

My only recommendation at this time is to apply, send all transcripts, wait for acceptance. While waiting, review the WIKI for UMPI and also the degree plans, make a spreadsheet of the one you're looking for, and when the evaluation comes back, it'll show you the yellow highlights, these are the remaining classes you need.

Have you taken any courses from Sophia or elsewhere? You don't want to start UMPI with 0 credits. You want to be as close to the 90 credits as possible.

On your application did you list any colleges? They're looking for a transcript so it sounds like a college may have been included on the application. If not, someone made an error and you just need to tell them you have not completed any college courses.

I didn’t list any colleges on my application. Do I need to email Jessica?
