My brother and I applied to TAMUC and had our official transcripts sent in. No communication for three weeks except two automated emails, one stating we were admitted. I called numerous times inquiring about the transcript evaluations. Most of the time I reached no one and left polite messages that were never returned. On the rare occasion, I reached someone, I was given a variety of inaccurate excuses.  Eventually, I emailed the director of admissions and started getting emails from admissions officers as a result. They claimed my transcript was evaluated the same day it was received. Our evaluations were rife with errors. My brother's evaluation, containing almost identical courses, deviated significantly from mine. We have not been able to appeal or even get an explanation. Texas A&M is a very credible school but their Commerce campus is chaos. We were applying for their BAAS in Organizational Leadership because it is a CBE program. After examining the courses, TAMUC did us a favor. Their Organizational Leadership courses appear to have little utility and there are better check the box degrees.

Avoid TAMUC.

So, there are several of us who have graduated from TAMUC. I recently graduated and have kept the wiki updated with what has recently been accepted from Sophia and other sources. The maximum credits you can transfer in are 81 (84 if you've previously taken a Texas Government course). This is still valid as of last week as I have friends that are in the Fall 2 session.

The only person that you should be contacting is Brianna Harrison or the CID advising team. They are the ones that will transcribe your credit. 

I'm sorry if you are having some difficulties, but I wouldn't advise anyone to avoid TAMUC or claim that the campus is chaos. It's a pretty decent program with an advising staff that tend to be very helpful.

I have had no problems so far. I transferred in the maximum amount of credits and I am currently about 75% finished with my first two classes after getting start last week.

That's interesting, I wonder what credits they've decided to change. We need updates to the WIKI to reflect whatever those changes are... Hmm, they should still take at least 84 or more credits, up to 90, towards the degree, it all depends if you have Texas Government and some other course completed at the Community College for transfer or not.

They haven't changed anything, BJ. I've kept the wiki updated with what is currently accepted. I'm not sure if the user is going through the CID advising staff as they are the ones responsible for ensuring the credits are properly transcribed.

TAMUC takes some time if you submit a class through parchment that is not a direct transfer. Some of my courses from Community College went in quick, because they were direct transfers for classes at TAMUC, English 1 for English 1 etc. Some of my Sophia classes were accepted faster than others, and it took the longest for substitutions for 2 of my CC classes that they substituted for Comp 2 and Math. If you are transferring classes that are not direct transfers, it may take them some time, and you may have to contact TAMUC to inquire about your transfers. Overall I feel that they were very generous with the classes they accepted from my CC and Sophia.

Just finished my 1st class for Fall 2. 10 more classes to go!

Do you mind sharing which CLEPs you transferred in.  My son needs credits for (040) and (090).  He has passed the Analyzing and Interpreting Literature exam.  I'm hoping it might count somewhere.  He's also willing to take the Human Growth & Development and Western Civil. I exam if they'd count.  He's already passed US History I & II and US Government.

Does anyone have any experience with the TAMUC Safety and Health (BAAS) degree?  I have greatly appreciated this forum and the information provided by regarding the BAAS in Organizational Leadership coursework, etc.  I'm trying to help my son determine which degree route to take but I haven't found any information (beyond the TAMUC website) about the Safety and Health degree program.  Looking for personal experiences or thoughts on 'pros and cons'.

I do not have any other info on the Safety and Health program, but my wife started the BGS program during Fall 2 and it along with the Safety and Health seem to be set up the same way. 42 Hours of Gen Ed/ Core, 48 Professional Development Electives (6 hours must be UL courses), and 30 Hours Upper level course work, just like the BAAS ORGL program.

If your son seems to be interested in that route, I would go for it. You can make posts about the program at TAMUC while attending the classes so that any future students would know what the program is like.

I am just happy that I have found an opportunity to receive a Bachelor's degree. I never thought this would be possible for me, my wife felt the same way about her education also. Our youngest son is going the traditional college route and is a Junior in a Mechanical Engineering program in Texas, and we are talking to our oldest son about getting started with the Pierpont Associates degree that we learned about on this forum.

This forum has been a huge help for us, and I encourage anyone on the fence to pick a program that fits their needs and to get started.

I hope your son is able to make a decision and get enrolled in a program, Spring 1 at TAMUC starts on January 16th.
