Notgodot Wrote:Serious question for anyone who knows the answer: is there a reason why a person can't be enrolled at two different universities at the same time? It sure seems like that would make Ideas' life much easier: He/she then wouldn't have to worry much about which courses to do in what order, just plan out all the courses needed total and then take them in whatever order was most convenient. The rules for a second bachelor's get in the way. COSC and TESU both require a number of new credits earned after the first bachelor's is awarded. If Ideas tried to earn them simultaneously, the credits would not be new. In effect, we're suggesting something along these lines when advising Ideas to get the capstone TECEP now, even though it's for the second degree. There will still be plenty of opportunity to get the 24 new credits TESU requires.

Makes sense, but I think there is a way though: I am considering giving up the COSC Psych degree. (I could probably do like davewill said, and get the Psych degree later, with more Gen Ed classes. It makes a big difference that I would only need additional electives and not need more AoS credits. I mean more beyond the 5 exams that I need at this time.)
I am really considering doing this, because the Psych degree is less important. I do want the Psych degree (especially because it'd be so quick to get, if it's my first degree), but it seems silly to possibly be blocked out of this TESU opportunity. So I am thinking take the TECEP, enroll in TESU, and finish the BSBA without letting my enrollment elapse. That's probably my best option.
I don't want the Psych degree to mess up other options. I can live without Psych, because I think I will put in the time for a Excelsior Health Sciences degree. I did some more research and probably only need 8 courses + capstone, and in fact I can probably test out of at least 3-5 of those (though with more expensive exams). Hopefully more than 5.

Right, I understand now. But what if Ideas literally graduated concurrently? Then one degree wouldn't be before or after the other, right, so these restrictions wouldn't apply? Or am I just thinking crazy because of sleep deprivation? milelol:

Even if you pulled it off, once the schools figured it out, (and they would) one or both would likely rescind the degrees and invoke the rules for a second degree. In fact, your questions made me think that Ideas had better be clear with both schools about enrollment. For instance if taking the TECEP and planning to stay with the Psych degree at COSC, he should probably take it as a non-matriculated student even though it's more expensive. Conversely, if he switches to TESU, he might be required to withdraw from COSC.

Ah, that's not a joking matter. Yeah, better safe than sorry.

I feel so strange switching to the BSBA, and doing that first! I thought it would be last! But this is a good plan. BSBA-CIS first.

I have a related issue. I have all the necessary credits for the AAS BOG and I was planning to graduate with that soon. As soon as they can get the transcripts and evaluate. But now I'm worried they won't finish before June 30th (so I can enroll for TESU BSBA-CIS on June 30).
I hope I don't have to give up the AAS too. I know an AAS shouldn't matter when you have a BS/BA, especially multiple BA/BS, but the AAS stepping stone may help me financially afford the first and/or second BS/BA. Also the AAS would have a different concentration listed on the diploma which could be useful in the future.
So I could get an ASNSM at TESU instead, I suppose, but would it cost me more than graduation fee? (Compared to the cost of only getting the BSBA-CIS at TESU.)

You don't want to wait until June 30, you want to apply ASAP, and be registered for the TECEP in the May term. Getting an AAS should not interfere with getting a bachelor's at all, and I would think finishing the AAS while starting the BSBA, and even being enrolled in both at the same time, would be no problem. If in doubt ask both schools.

I meant enrollment... I need to enroll ASAP too?
Ok, I am looking at the general TECEP instructions. So register for the TECEP as a non-matriculated student and choose a date in May at ProctorU?

It isn't necessary to actually take the TECEP in May, just during the May term which runs into July. Once you're registered for it, you can take time to properly study then schedule the exam. If you're leaving COSC, I don't think you have to register for it as a non-matriculated student. You should be able to enroll normally now. Why were you going to wait until June?
