My friend has completed 125 credit hours, with many applied science courses. Can anyone tell me how much extra would be needed for a Technical Studies degree at TESU? https://www.tesu.edu/ast/programs/bs/technical-studies
My experience is with COSC several years ago and not TESU, so I would appreciate the help from those with knowledge of TESU.
If anyone has any other suggestions, it would be appreciated. Thanks

There isn't that much discussion about the BSTS here, and it's not a very common or ordinary degree program. However, it might work in this case. The biggest hangup will be acquiring enough credits (with enough UL) in a specific technical discipline category. Unfortunately, the existing credits are spread across aviation, electronics, and engineering. They'd have to find a reasonable way to get several more upper level aviation credits, if that's what they'd like to go with.
It might be worth applying to TESU and seeing how they evaluate the existing credits. Completing a degree in one 15-credit term might work, with the cornerstone, capstone, and 2-3 more UL aviation courses. It looks like there may be a few remaining gen ed holes, which can be filled easily and cheaply with Sophia.
TESU Class of 2024 BSBA-CIS+GM, BSIT, ASNSM-CS+Math, AAS-GEN
Earned credits from Sophia, SDC, ASU ULC, TEEX, Microsoft, Strayer, TESU, Saylor, DSST, CLEP, CompTIA, StraighterLine, and others since starting in April 2020

I think the BS tech studies at TESU seems like a good option.

That degree is probably the best for for his credits.
Gen Ed info:
If COMM 2200 Fundamentals of Communication can be shown to be an Oral Comm course, then that is done; otherwise, he needs Oral Comm
- Ethics (Sophia)
- Am Govt (Sophia)
- Cornerstone (TESU)
Major/AoS
- 12cr UL (done)
- 21cr from a single discipline - ENGR (done)
- 18cr from other disciplines - AERO, MECH (done)
- Project Management (take it at SDC)
- Capstone (take at TESU)
Other requirements:
- comptuers (done)
- Stats (Sophia)
- College Algebra (done)
- Math above College Algebra (done)
And then the trickiest part:
- Gen Chem I w/lab - done
- Gen Chem II w/lab
OR
- Gen Physics I w/lab (done)
- Gen Physics II w/lab - do course at SDC, then lab at TESU
All in all, I'd say that he's in good shape - 3 courses at Sophia, 3 at SDC, and 3 at TESU.
Sophia (1 month for $99)
Ethics
Am Govt
Stats
SDC (1 month for $235 + 70)
Presentation Skills if Oral Comm is needed
Project Management
Physics II
TESU (1 term)
Cornerstone
Capstone
Physics II Lab
If he's going to do the single 15cr term to save costs, then he can take the above courses plus Physics II, Oral Comm & Stats. For someone who has already taken Calculus, Stats will be an easy A I think. If he needs Oral Comm, that's another easy A. Otherwise, he could do Ethics or Am Govt.

I greatly appreciate you taking the time to do this!!
How much does one 15 credit term at TESU cost?
Thanks

Three things, https://www.tesu.edu/ast/programs/bs/technical-studies
1) I see only 3 UL that is in bold, that's 9 credits in the AOS, if you add the Study.com PM and the Capstone, you have 15. You're missing a course/3 credit for the credit to reach 18 as per the link above, (unless there was a change and now they count the PM/Capstone as the 12 you need).
2) Flat rate tuition for the 15 credits depends on your in-state or out of state tuition:
Link: https://www.tesu.edu/tuition/flat-rate-tuition
2023-2024 Full-Time Flat-Rate Tuition
New Jersey residents $3,319
Out-of-state residents $4,299
3) You want to take provider by provider and slowly/surely complete Sophia.org, Study.com, then the TESU ones last. You may want to take 4 courses and an e-pack for the max financial aid if you need max the Pell Grant option.

Thank you. This makes sense to me.

OK, I think this may be the best option for him with the credits he already has. So, from those knowledgeable about TESU, is the following the correct course of action for him?
1) Apply and then send transcripts to TESU
2) Considering the evaluation, take remaining few required classes from Sophia (minus 5 courses that will be taken at TESU)
3) Take five courses from TESU, including:
-Project Management
-Physics II or Chemistry II plus lab
-UL class
-Something else needed
-Capstone
Thanks!

I might choose something else for what to take at TESU, you want easier courses since the capstone will take up time and energy. I personally would want an easy A or two in there. I'd recommend:
SDC
Project Management
Physics II
Presentation Skills
TESU
- Stats
- Any LL Ethics course
- Computer Architecture or Artificial Intelligence as your UL
- Computer Concepts & Applications e-Pack (test-out option that gets you residency but will take almost zero time)
- American Gov (e-Pack if he thinks he can pass, or else the online course)
- Physics II lab only

Both Software Engineering and Artificial Intelligence at TESU have been reported to be relatively easy classes. I don't think anyone's taken Computer Architecture from TESU lately, but I think it's probably more difficult? If AI counts for a Technical Studies degree, that's the one I'd recommend.
In progress:
TESU - BA Computer Science; BSBA CIS; ASNSM Math & CS; ASBA
Completed:
Pierpont - AAS BOG
Sophia (so many), The Institutes (old), Study.com (5 courses)
ASU: Human Origins, Astronomy, Intro Health & Wellness, Western Civilization, Computer Appls & Info Technology, Intro Programming
Strayer: CIS175, CIS111, WRK100, MAT210
