Technical Studies - topdog98 - 07-20-2023
My friend has completed 125 credit hours, with many applied science courses. Can anyone tell me how much extra would be needed for a Technical Studies degree at TESU? https://www.tesu.edu/ast/programs/bs/technical-studies
My experience is with COSC several years ago and not TESU, so I would appreciate the help from those with knowledge of TESU.
If anyone has any other suggestions, it would be appreciated. Thanks

There isn't that much discussion about the BSTS here, and it's not a very common or ordinary degree program. However, it might work in this case. The biggest hangup will be acquiring enough credits (with enough UL) in a specific technical discipline category. Unfortunately, the existing credits are spread across aviation, electronics, and engineering. They'd have to find a reasonable way to get several more upper level aviation credits, if that's what they'd like to go with.
It might be worth applying to TESU and seeing how they evaluate the existing credits. Completing a degree in one 15-credit term might work, with the cornerstone, capstone, and 2-3 more UL aviation courses. It looks like there may be a few remaining gen ed holes, which can be filled easily and cheaply with Sophia.

If COMM 2200 Fundamentals of Communication can be shown to be an Oral Comm course, then that is done; otherwise, he needs Oral Comm

1) I see only 3 UL that is in bold, that's 9 credits in the AOS, if you add the Study.com PM and the Capstone, you have 15. You're missing a course/3 credit for the credit to reach 18 as per the link above, (unless there was a change and now they count the PM/Capstone as the 12 you need).
2) Flat rate tuition for the 15 credits depends on your in-state or out of state tuition:

I might choose something else for what to take at TESU, you want easier courses since the capstone will take up time and energy. I personally would want an easy A or two in there. I'd recommend:
SDC
Project Management
Physics II
Presentation Skills
TESU
- Stats
- Any LL Ethics course
- Computer Architecture or Artificial Intelligence as your UL
- Computer Concepts & Applications e-Pack (test-out option that gets you residency but will take almost zero time)
- American Gov (e-Pack if he thinks he can pass, or else the online course)
- Physics II lab only

Both Software Engineering and Artificial Intelligence at TESU have been reported to be relatively easy classes. I don't think anyone's taken Computer Architecture from TESU lately, but I think it's probably more difficult? If AI counts for a Technical Studies degree, that's the one I'd recommend.
