Ah, yes, I think that might be one of the negative things that was coming up. Good to see they are considered legit now. I’m guessing they cleaned up whatever put them on the naughty list.
I think they were put on the naughty list way back when (prior to 2005?) because they were not accredited. Once you get on those lists it can take YEARS to get off. Texas is not a forgiving state.

I talked to her a little bit today about how things go with the courses there. So, here’s what I found out, in case anyone is curious. Basically, each course has 4 units. Each unit ends with a 25 question quiz and small paper (3-4 pages) and ends with a 100 question final. Quizzes and tests are open book. No interaction with instructors. Just feedback on the papers. You choose your own proctor for the final who basically just gets you access to the test. No video or anything like that. There’s no tutoring and no writing center. It’s basically just you reading a textbook and then answering questions and writing about what you learn.
They do accept ACE credits, for anyone who is interested in that. But i don’t know how much they accept.
I don’t know…. Seems kind of over-priced if you are basically teaching yourself. Might as well just learn on Saylor Academy.

Legitimate, pre-accredited schools are normally not put on diploma mill lists. California Coast University was banned in Texas because the coursework they required was considered "substandard."

To be honest, I can kind of see why it could be considered substandard. I can’t say that they are… but I can see how it’s possible. I’ve talked to a lot of schools recently. Some have really knocked my socks off. This one has not. Maybe if it was a lot cheaper. Seriously. What is the overhead? No tutoring. No writing center. No videos. No interactions. No job placement or career center. Although, I guess it works for my co-worker. It’s useful in her current job and she’s getting reimbursement for most of it.

They're pretty good with their overall reviews, however, that being said, I would still recommend you evaluate your options for your future studies. If you can get an RA at the same price or similar, I would shoot for that first before considering NA/CCU. Find something that is interesting to you and worth the ROI/Value.
Here's an example, you already know about HAU and their $3K MBA, it's RA and can be done in as fast as 18 months. You have tuition assistance or reimbursement for $1500/year. Guess what! Email Dean Martin at HAU and ask her if they can "split" the billing into two years, you need to pay a $375 deposit to hold your seat in the cohort. If they allow the $1500 this year and $1500 next year, you have a FREE MBA that is RA. This is what I would recommend you do! Hi,
What is HAU?
THANX!!!

There are a few threads on the degree already, here's one of them: https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-...ersity-HAU

Oh I'm soooo sorry they are "overpriced" at $250/credit for their Masters (maybe $50 would be fair so I do agree with you )and there are no videos to watch and no games to play. When I got my MA from the University of Toronto, there was no "writing center." If you can't write or if you don't want to write, grad school is not for you. Just a thought.

At here and “the other” forum, you’ve been shilling for Tech Global University, telling others that “you’d go for it” and reminding them not to miss the $2000 discount pop-up ads, and gave a lecture on RVOE . Whatever. So let me understand your logic- you recommend Americans to pick a new spanish school (under Aula whatever) that offers shady “degree” programs like “Masters degree in MBA in Marketing,” (which is a joke), a school that maintains a fake Forbes website with fake endorsements, and not to mention, all the difficulties students complained about in getting official transcripts and the silly task of paying more fees to have a "real school" certify the legitimacy of its degrees, yet you have a problem with California Coast which has recognized accreditation and none of Tech’s dubious practices? You are wayyyyy ahead of yourself and the Secretary of Education.
The only thing "substandard" appears to be your argument and research skills. I clearly remember how Alan Contreras of the Oregon Degree Authorization (ODA) classified California Coast even on its unaccredited days (see attached). California Coast was bold enough to submit its course work to ODA for validation, and its credentials were deemed recognized and legal for use up to the Masters level, and they certainly levelled up after gaining recognized acccreditation almost 20 years ago. Graduates with the old unaccredited California Coast degrees could sit for licensed clinical psychologist and marriage counsellor exams in California. I sure hell hope these "frauds" are not practising with their "substandard" degrees. If so, then you must be smarter than the State of California. You are certainly entitled to your opinion, but don't make it a fact to misrepresent others.
On encountering somewhat critical – and in this case nuanced – reviews on a consumer forum, please avoid casting aspersions on and certainly refrain from personal attacks against the reviewers.
Vle045 and sanantone's comments on California Coast are nuanced, and sanantone's comments on Tech Global are nuanced and skeptical and certainly not shilling.
Traditional universities, including the University of Toronto back in the day with which I'm familiar, had plenty of close support even hand-holding available to many students. Writing centers, now common at all types of universities including the U of T, are organized differently but are not serving a function that's all that new.

Are you someone who knows Sanantone in their personal life and has decided to come online to harass them? You're not even accurately representing things they've said. This is not 4chan. If you want to defend California Coast University, then do it by talking about its strengths, not by attacking other people. Say something helpful or don't say anything at all.
